I'm not a Niners fan or anything, but I can't believe they're hosting the NFC Championship game this year.

I dunno. This has the feel of '08 again. The Giants barely make the playoffs and then make a miracle run. The only difference is they got a home game against Atlanta this year while they had to win 3 road games to make it to the SB in '08. Still, they had to win their final RS game this year or they would not have been in the playoffs.

Can't be any worse than the bizarro world in which Arizona hosted the NFCCG.

Giants just beat a Packers team that was not in regular season form. Packers were sloppy all over the place.

Even though I'm a Saints fan, I'm glad for Alex Smith & Co. I've defended him almost to the ends of the earth (it was hard when he missed a whole year), at least more so than almost anyone else I've debated with. Just wish I wasn't as right as I was. Hope the 49ers take care of the Giants next week.

Ooooh... this is nice for the Niners' defense, P. Willis in particular. He doesn't have to deal with an amazing TE. Giants' offense is nowhere near the Saints, their defense might be a bit better, but... this will be a fun game. Hard hits.

Did you guys see this? Two 49ers fans were shot at a Georgia Applebees for cheering on the Niners. The shooter, a Saints fan, is in custody and facing two counts of aggravated assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Also, Niners lost Gore early in that game, so they were without him.

Your a good sport, GKJ. Your team will be back next season, hopefully for you with a few upgrades defensively and a new coordinator.

Attempting to take people's lives over a football game!? Some people just don't see the big picture.

I'm gonna be shocked if the Niners give up 30+ points two weeks in a row at home, so NYG better look out because a low scoring affair favors the Niners (Although the Niners proved that can go toe to toe in a last second shootout). GO NINERS!!!!

What an awesome weekend to be a 49er fan. They win in one of the best playoff games I've probably ever seen, and then they get to host the NFC Championship Game in a rematch against the Giants. If I told you that was going to happen before the season started, I would have been laughed at.

Really looking forward to the game next week. I haven't felt this euphoric over Sports team since the Giants winning the world series.

I do have to admit though that both days it was hard to watch the Sharks after watching playoff football go our way both days. They just don't seem as important (Even though I am going to the game on Tuesday and looking forward to it) right now. Still, what the 49ers are doing is un-freakin'-real.

Dude, it's NHL regular season hockey. You don't have to apologize for considering playoff football, involving your team no less, more important.

I actually fear the Giants defense. Their front 4 is vicious and they could cause us serious problems.

However, this will be a very even match-up. Both coaching staffs know what to expect from the other.....

24-21 49ers...hopefully!

It's still early, but I do think it will be a close game and if I were a betting man (I am going up to Reno the week before the Super Bowl so I might make a Super Bowl bet), I would probably take the under in this game (Not sure what it is though). It's going to be a defensive battle and both coaches prepare so well that that I don't expect to see what I saw yesterday with Green Bay. These two teams will be very prepared and it's going to be a hell of a game.

Saturday I DVR'ed the Cbus game and watched it hours later, although I never checked the score so I did watch it "fresh." That said, the feeling for me was the closest to a preseason game I'll come (I don't watch exhibition games for any sport). Sunday was better though, it was the Hawks, and the Niners weren't playing. Sharks don't play this upcoming Sunday and I have no trouble getting pumped (regular season style) for their games this week, including AT VAN for a relatively early Saturday game. BUT it would have been preferable to have the NHL all star break this week, rather than have that break during the NFL's weekend off between the conf champs and the Super Bowl.

I wouldn't feel bad. Do you ever feel bad for not following the Giants in diehard fashion every April/May? I'm hoping this year I won't be following the Giants in such a manner through the middle of June. I also don't feel bad for not giving a damn (At the time) for the NFL draft, and it bugs me there are hockey-haters in the Bay who will watch the first round of the NFL draft over a Sharks playoff game if they overlap.

I think one of the ways I will be excited for the Sharks this week is it will provide a nice diversion from all the 49ers hoopla. That game is on Sunday, we have 6 days to go before that game, and it's going to be discussed to death all week long. There are some very exciting Sharks games to look forward to (Calgary mainly because I'm going, Ottawa because they are like the second most surprising team in the east, behind Florida, and Vancouver because I love the rivalry) so no I don't entirely feel bad I was "preoccupied" with football this weekend. All I know is it's going to be a very fun sports week leading up to the big game.

Same here. I try to avoid all talk and articles and hype for the Niners and simply watch the game (with center channel turned down, all others turned up so I only hear crowd and game noise, like when I clearly heard what appeared to be Alex Smith audibling on the Crabtree touchdown. In my HT, you could loudly here him yell out "Blackbird" and it was relayed to the receivers. Sure looked and felt like an audible to me.)

Having three Sharks games before the NFC title games lets me just focus on that. That plus work (and avoiding all the media hype) and Sunday's NFC game will be here in no time.

P.S. It's a joke that they now have playoff games in primetime. Used to ALWAYS be that conf title games were 10am / 1pm Pacific (and only altered if both hosting teams were in the Pacific Time Zone). Hate that the NFC title game this year is so late in the day.

That year was crazy. I really meant that I couldn't have predicted that at the beginning of the season, although nobody could have predicted the Arizona home game either.

Your reasoning for altering it is precisely why they just went ahead and changed it, so they don't have to worry about that stuff anymore.

But I have to wait until 6:30 p.m. my time. I have to wait all day AND through another game. I'll be on pins and needles!
