Same here. I try to avoid all talk and articles and hype for the Niners and simply watch the game (with center channel turned down, all others turned up so I only hear crowd and game noise, like when I clearly heard what appeared to be Alex Smith audibling on the Crabtree touchdown. In my HT, you could loudly here him yell out "Blackbird" and it was relayed to the receivers. Sure looked and felt like an audible to me.)
How does one do this? I wouldn't mind not listening to Joe Buck next week.
P.S. It's a joke that they now have playoff games in primetime. Used to ALWAYS be that conf title games were 10am / 1pm Pacific (and only altered if both hosting teams were in the Pacific Time Zone). Hate that the NFC title game this year is so late in the day.
That's funny, because I bet for people going to the game 3:30 PM is a much better time for it. I know that during college football season when I tailgate regularly I love the mid-afternoon games, plenty of time to tailgate (or do other stuff) in the morning, and the game is still early enough that afterwards you can go out to dinner or go celebrate.
If you don't like the game being late, move back to a less crappy part of the country

You can only even attempt to do this provided you are watching the game using a sound system with 5.1 sound (i.e., your cable/sat box connects to your audio/video receiver via HDMI or an optical connection).
If you have this set up, the game is broadcast in dolby digital 5.1 sound and you hear it as such. The center channel is commentary only. On most audio/video receivers, you can adjust the volume for each channel, so you just turn down the center all the way, and turn up the fronts and rears (I don't adjust the subwoofer). Then you won't hear the commentary, just crowd and game noise. Just remember to turn the master volume down during commercials because they will be very loud.
Note: You can do this on Sharks games too, but for CSN-CA HD broadcasts, they don't mix their 5.1 correctly and commentary comes out of the center and both fronts. Nevertheless, for those Sharks games, I turn down the center, and just jack up rears (leaving fronts at regular calibrated volume). Yes I hear Randy and Drew, but I get good game/crowd noise. NBC and NBC Sports Network does their DD 5.1 sound correctly, so this method above can be used for that. I watched the Winter Classic that way, and did not hear one second of commentary.
Double note: Sometimes during FOX football broadcasts the sound screws up and you hear commentary through other speakers. That usually goes away after a play though. That did not happen at all last Saturday and I never heard one word from the commentators except when I turned up the center channel at the very very end of the game on the Saints final play.

Your reasoning for altering it is precisely why they just went ahead and changed it, so they don't have to worry about that stuff anymore.
Having both title games in the Pacific Time Zone doesn't happen that often. My guess is that they think (know?) primetime (east coast) = higher ratings, and also means not having to plan for programming.
For example, next Sunday, FOX will not have new shows in the evening (non-issue on east coast, but west coast just gets repeats). Then again, after that god-awful premiere of the animated Napoleon Dynamite, that's probably a good thing.

I know we can beat NYG again. The play of Anthony Davis concerns me as NY has a great D-line. Not to mention Eli Manning was one pass away from beating us in the regular season. Harbaugh better get the boys ready because this is going to be a battle.
what I really wish was that I could find a copy of Ted Robinson's call of Alex's TD run...
Someone needs to sync the radio call with video of the last 4+ minutes of the game. I feel like it happened so quickly, I can't relive the rollercoaster just by watching highlights on ESPN.

Eli was one pass away from tying us in the regular season (Niners won 27-20), not beating us unless you expected them to go for 2 and make it.
Niners still have their great D line and linebackers and could give Eli fits all day. Also, I'm hoping we have both Ginn and especially my boy Delanie Walker (he's a personal favorite of my Niner-diehard family because he went to college in the same city where I met and married my wife). Walker adds a lot to the offense in his hybrid role. Blocks really well too and we could use that against the Giants D-line. ALSO, I expect Giants will go out of their way to "deny" Vernon Davis the ball, so in terms of receivers, if you can have Walker out there it will help as an option (along with Crabtree, who if VD is denied, will need to step up because he will be targeted by Alex). Hopefully they will still practice and maybe try some trick plays. I liked the idea behind that double pass with Gore (was to be a backwards pass from Gore to Smith, and I guess forward pass from Smith, or run by Alex). If you block properly, have Ginn out there, and get the Giants to bite, you could get a Ginn or Crabtree stupid open down the field...
I 100% trust Harbaugh on the game plan, so that doesn't worry me. The G-men's confidence being sky high after winning at Lambeau does, though. Maybe they'll get a little too overconfident.

One pass away from tying. Giants offense just played a Packers defense that was nowhere NEAR the Niners. Niners will have much better pressure on Eli than the Packers did, and much better pass defense than the Packers.
Also of note: Since some people think Alex will have problems with the pass rush... he was sacked 44 times in the regular season, lead the league, and yet... the Niners still won their games. Smith can handle a pass rush.
A's signed Bartolo Colon yesterday and traded 2 expandable arms for OF Seth Smith. Outfield looks like Smith/Crisp/Reddick with Taylor or Cowgill as the 4th.
Man how those play off tickets keep going up. So the ma tells me that the G-Pa sold his round 2 49ner tickets at face value. I said how much? She said 550.00 each for his 2 seats. Crazy a 200 dollar increase from last Sunday!
I believe he's a sub .250 hitter outside of that place...
Well, I'm glad Beane was willing to take the risk. Moscoso and Outman are nothing special and they needed a guy who has pop. Josh Willingham set career highs in Hr's and Rbi's last season playing with the A's, and he played in much better hitting stadiums before he got to Oakland.
Both are better than Oakland. Both have hot, humid air which is easier to hit in, and the ball also carries farther. Much better parks/areas than 45 degree summer nights in Oakland.
Niners getting no love again this week. I get that we were underdogs against the Saints and I know that everyone is on Eli's jock right now, but why some people don't think that this is going to be a close game one way or the other is beyond me.

Coming from the same people who picked us to get beat by NO. Don't take it personal, they just want to make up for what they've been saying all season, when they're wrong, you won't hear a word.
Best thing to do is not watch espn. And I don't mean just this week, don't watch that garbage at all.

Better to have the Niners go in with the "us against the world and lets prove those swarmy ****ers wrong" than to go in with the "maaaan we gots this. errybody agrees that this aint gonna be a thang" mindset I guess.
