Diaz or the Pettis/Lauzon winner will probably get next

You could argue that more events means more places get to see the fights live. The card In Sweden is a good example of this.

True, but they could easily accomplish that by moving some of the smaller Vegas shows to new places.

I think it was a tell-tale sign today when they postponed the Montreal show. This Nov-Feb schedule has done a number on their roster, and they've run out of top-tier fights. It'll slow down and the cards will be deeper. I'm not concerned about things long-term.

SportsnetONE. All FX and FuelTV programming will be aired on Sportsnet it appears, aside from the pre-lims which are hit or miss.

Will it slow down though? Dana stated they want to do 34 shows this year, that's close to 3 per month. I think injuries have taken more of a toll than the number of events. Montreal is a market where they want to have a championship fight, and with GSP, Anderson and JDS all out with injury, it just doesn't leave much at this time. I do think we will see a lot more fight night type cards this year in new markets.

I want them to put Nate against a good wrestler before they give him a title shot. His three losses at 155 have been against Maynard, Guida, and Stevenson. Even though he lost two of those fights by split decision, he still needs to show that he can actually beat good wrestlers.

I'm a big fan of the Diaz brothers so I would love to see him fight for the title but I don't think he has done enough to get the next shot.

The main event is hard to pick right now, for me at least. I'm just wondering which version of Guillard is going to show up.

Well it looks like they only have 1 card in March and 2 in April. Even if they add another card in there for some reason, its still a drop-off. That will be coming off a stretch where they will have done 12 (3 per month on average) from Nov-Feb.
We'll see how the rest of the year plays out.

Guillard has always been a bit of a headcase but he really turned things around when he joined Greg Jackson's team. Now he left Jackson's and joined Rashad's team in Florida. IMO, that's a big mistake.

I'm going with Miller.

I agree, but we'll see if the UFC agrees.

It will be interesting to see what the UFC does with both Pettis and Diaz. Their kryptonite is wrestling, but they are both great finishers so the longer a fight goes the better chance they have to win. So if the UFC wants them as viable challengers they are better off steering them clear of wrestlers until they get their title shot or even give them a 5 round main event.

I think if Henderson and Pettis win they may jump all over that rematch.

I think they'll definitely be adding some sort of event in March, just not a championship caliber event for Montreal. If they do try for their goal of 34 events that means some months could have 1 or 2 while others could even have as many as 4.

That said, I do like that they decided to scrap the Montreal PPV considering they didn't foresee a viable main event option. They probably feel bad after last time they disguised McCorkle/Struve as some sort of co-main event.

Agreed, that re-match just makes too much sense.

If Edgar wins, I wonder what the chances are of Aldo moving up to 155 to challenge? There's not a whole lot for Aldo at 145 right now, might be a good time for him to try his hand at LW.

If Korean Zombie gets another quality win, he could be Aldo's next challenger.

What I think is going to happen is that if Henderson wins, and Pettis wins, they do that. In which case Edgar would go down and fight Aldo. If Edgar wins, Aldo moves up to fight him, even though that really screws up 145 because there isn't one, much less two guys who should get the next shot at the belt. In any case I think Aldo against Edgar will happen next unless Edgar/Henderson is very controversial.

I think Aldo could defend the belt in both weight classes should he beat Edgar.

I actually don't think Aldo will move up. He's just establishing himself in the UFC as the face of the division. Moving him into the crowded 155 class makes no sense unless he absolutely can't make that cut anymore.

It makes sense if he thinks he can win and be the champ.

Main card:
Lightweight bout: Melvin Guillard vs. Jim Miller - 1st rd. sub. Miller all day long. Guillards' record is scattered with wins over lesser competition. Each and every time he faces a high end opponent he loses (exception, Evan Dunham). He has to be one of the most over-rated fighters in the game, but he is very exciting.
Welterweight bout: Duane Ludwig vs. Josh Neer - dec.
Bantamweight bout: Mike Easton vs. Jared Papazian - dec.
Heavyweight bout: Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft - tko, 3rd.

Preliminary card (Fuel TV):
Middleweight bout: Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer
Lightweight bout: Kamal Shalorus vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
Welterweight bout: Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts
Featherwight bout: Daniel Pineda vs. Pat Schilling
Bantamweight bout: Joseph Sandoval vs. Nick Denis
Lightweight bout: FabrÝcio Cam§es vs. Tom Hayden

This event going to sell out? Going to be in Nashville for the Hawks game the following night, but someone just pointed this out. I know how the Broadway area can get with a packed arena exiting and hitting the bars...

Making any picks on this card is so sketchy.

Which terrible fighter do you think will beat this unknown guy?

I would like to see Guillard win and fight Diaz again.

Does anyone know if Bodog will have the undercard for this event up as well? Usually all the fights are there by now.
