Jake Gardiner Assigned To Marlies (EDIT: Now recalled)

Done deal.

I speculate Holzer will get the call up as the #7 as well, but that's just well intentioned guessing.

I tweeted it too (link), so if I'm wrong, please call me out. But I'm certain this is the real deal.

EDIT: MarliesHQ article. http://marlieshq.com/2012/01/15/jake...ed-to-marlies/

Hopefully is back after a few games. Hopefully he can regain some confidence.

better for him to play in the minors than it is to sit in the press box for the Leafs

It's better for him to be in the Marlies than to be a healthy scratch every night. If he plays well, he'll be back soon enough.

He's one of the best skaters on this team, what a joke.

Jake Gardiner has been ANYTHING but brutal. **** you Komisarek..

The only thing RW needed to do with Gardiner was not play him on the PK.

So frustrating that we have trouble taking the puck out of our zone and we assign a good smooth skater with the puck and high IQ to the Marlies even when we're missing Liles.

I love this plan, send down your most mobile defenceman .

Burke did say play him or he's being sent down and Wilson has scratched him for way too long.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

So lets put the young talented defenseman in the AHL and lets keep the useless scrub overpaid POS who when injured we were playing better defense and winning hockey games. Great move Wilson.

He should be playing in the minors barring an injury or trade. I don't think they will call up Holzer to sit in the press box either.

Took out the reasoning to be on the safe side so anyone who saw it enjoy.. but fact is this is going down. If I'm wrong like I said call me out until the end of time

Sure he should be out, but Aulie shouldn't be in. He's been 20x worse.

I thought he was one of the Leafs better D-Men this year? Has his play tailed off the last month or so?

Haven't had the chance to catch many Leafs games this year, I just recall there being a lot of praise for Gardiner earlier in the season..

Looks like the Leafs like sticking in their own zone.

Yes but he started playing 25+ minutes a night and started leading our team in TOI and then he started to get tired and his level of play started to go down. He came straight from college where they play 40 games a season. Now he is in the NHL and playing big minutes so clearly he would get tired.

But the solution was quick and simple yet the coaches are too stupid to see it. Take Gardiner off the PK.

Looks like the Leafs don't like turnovers behind their net

I'd say so yeah. His lack experience was showing on the PK and just getting caught not covering people in front of the net at times. I think he'll do wonders if he really is sent down to the AHL.

An appearance he was to make Sunday was cancelled. Reason given by the promoter was he was assigned to Marlies and will be in the lineup.

Well at least he will get to play in the outdoor game.

I don't mind it too much. It'll help him gain some confidence to create some offense again like he did in the preseason. It'll probably be a little easier for him to fix his parts of his defensive game especially with Dallas down there.

With the depth on defense we have I don't really see being with or without Gardiner will be a deciding factor on making the playoffs or missing.
