On the Marlies roster now. Still no press release but yeah, consider it to be past my scoop and now official

Whatever... if it saves $1 in cap space that can help later, it makes sense...

When Bozak returns it will probably be Kadri that goes down too...

and when Liles returns, Aulie...

Could be very interesting if the Leafs manage to have Colborne, Kadri, Gardiner, Aulie, all on the AHL clear day rosters...

I always forget how those work though... Obviously the Leafs would want them available for their playoff drive...

I'm really starting to think he's being showcased for a trade.

The argument is that Gardiner is better than Aulie, so why would the Leafs play a weaker player if it's playoffs or bust? Your point would make sense if Aulie was a proven vet who was solid and Gardiner was a young player going through growing pains, but both are young players having ups and downs this season.

Liles is a better player than Gardiner, so that's a no brainer when he comes back. Wouldn't surprise me if Aulie stayed in and Schenn came out so they can keep the PK pairing and move Komi back to the right side when Liles comes back.

The only way you can justify Komisarek and Aulie in the line-up over Gardiner would be Leafs are not a complete disaster on the PK with those two.

I would be fine with the move if Liles was healthy but right now, he is not. Komisarek just had a horrendous game and he is playing on his off-wing. The PP has been struggling a lot lately too so I think it wold make some sense to keep him up for now since things can change in a hurry. Aulie nor Komisarek by any means have their spots locked down.
Wow - no wonder he had a bad game playing his "off wing", since he is a defenseman!!!!!! Gee, next thing we'll be talking about is Kessel's slump 'cuz he is too deep in his crease.

Send the kid down, let him get his game back and dominate the AHL. Not like he was lighting it up in the NHL. Sure he can skate, but hasn't scored, doesn't hit, is not very good "defense"ively.

It definitely is. But still, you cant score goals if you cant enter the opponents zone, and no one on our team is better at doing this than Gards. Aulie contributes little to nothing. Komisarek cost us the game yesterday too. Veteran or not, they have to play their best players.

Would have preferred to keep him up until Liles returns to keep some mobility on the backend, but not a big deal. He can be called up at any time.

So you are saying the vets have a better chance of making the play-offs than the "kids"? Which means you are critical of the Leafs icing the best team possible. Interesting stance for a so-called long suffering Leaf fan.

The reality is that players who are waiver exempt will always get sent down before players who could be claimed. To do otherwise is terrible asset management.

What a joke. Leafs brass wondering why they are losing? Dressing guys like Keith Aullie who can barely handle his own stick in his hands? Dressing guys like Lombardi, Kulemin, Steckle while Matt Frattin and now Jake Gardiner are over at the Ricoh Centre? Time to open up your eyes and get your head in the game Burke. And while you're at it instead of being afraid to tell the team like it is, it's time to rip into them for lazy, non-chalante play and this goes all the way up to your Captain.

How great would it be if they were showcasing Komi... I'd take a 7th rounder in 2015 for him...

Gardiner hasn't been all that great in his last 10 or so games, I believe his time with Dallas Eakins will do him some good.

Well said, ND. Some people seem to always forget that 'minor detail'.

When Bozak and Armstrong come back (unless they get traded first), guess who's next down the line? Right.

Better developing with the Marlies than sitting in the press box. I have a feeling this won't last very long.

Why would they send Gardiner down if a trade is coming? are we trading for another defenseman cuz I dont think Liles is close to returning just yet.

edit: referring to this tweet
