Gagner waiting to face Beauchemin was akin to Custer dropping the mitts with the Indians and then looking around hopelessly for some help, knowing the extra cavalry wasn't coming and your beating was about to be administered.
Kid had an out of body experience

I haven't been a Gagner fan for a few years but I was at that game and I respect him a lot for doing that. He was basically showing guys like Eager and Pecham that he has the heart and they don't. I don't care if he lost the fight, no one else was going to step up...ever. It better send a message to the guys who should be doing the fighting to wake the hell up. Eager's little attempt to go talk to Beauchemin after was absolutely pathetic. Where is the heart and the care in these guys right now? It's absolutely atrocious. Jason Smith would have hunted him down back in the day. I don't even think Hordichuk would have done anything the way this team is going. Pathetic.
I really think a lot of people forget that Gagner is 22 freaking years old. He has heart, leadership, offensive talent and instincts, toughness, and let's call it what it is, sack. I've never understood the hate for him that some people have. He is a bit streaky, yes, and aspects of his defensive game and finish need work, but he is a keeper.

I don't know what this is. I agree with the rest so I probably agree he has sack.
Kid shows more balls and heart than our dear Captain or the rest of the veterans on the team. He's still scoring at a decent pace over the last 25 games and a lot of that is on secondary lines and second unit PP time before RNH was injured. He can be streaky, but I don't see a urgent need to trade him since he has shown he can score points regardless if his linemates are Jones/Belanger or Hall/Hemsky.
Stick him on the second or third line with guys like Harti and Jones. It's not like this team can't use secondary scoring.

Yep. If he gets traded I'm going to **** bricks. He's a guy that can play any forward position and knows how to make himself useful even when he's having an off game. He's always going to have a place on this team IMO, regardless of how many superstars we pick up in the drafts

Gagner has been on the 1st/2nd lines for the last 20 games, and has been shuffled between the 1st/2nd PP units all season. and has only had less than 15 minutes of ice time 4 times in the last 24 games.
He is producing at a rate of 0.54 ppg, while only averaging 1.8 shots per game. and is on pace for 40+ points again.
Maybe this year we can claim he has improved his fighting skills, maybe enough to be a slightly more offensive Kelly Buchberger.

His faceoffs have improved a ton, he's near 48% now, which is at least passable. He can play any forward position, on any of the three lines and is a good soldier on the team. He can give you 40-50 points as secondary scorer.
Unlike what HF loves to believe, second liners don't score 60-70 points anymore. He's a cheap, young versatile player. He's got a spot on this team IMO.

Hell on a club like Phoenix or Nashville Gagner would be among team leaders in pts any year running and as a very young player.
Not sure where the notion that 40-50 pts is no damned good got started. A lot of teams would want this problem on a second line.
I know, right? He's not going to be Eberle, Hall, or RNH, but Gagner is a nice player to have on your team.
He gives everything and when it's not going well for himself he does whatever he can to get back on track.
I'd be choked if they traded him. Where would we be with RNH injured and if Gagner had been traded? I shudder to think.
Yep, this we can agree on.
Gagner fits so seamlessly on any line. I've always said this but he can fill on anything from 1st to 3rd lines and not look out of place in any capacity.
I wonder how many people noting as well that Hemsky playing the best hockey of the season while being on a line with Gagner and Hall and having to match their work and commitment.
This being the same Gagner that made Nillson and Cogs play the best hockey of their careers. Gagner tirelessly makes people around him match energy and work ethic.
Gagner is bringing something on every shift. Any role.

This is so sad. It should be the other way around, shouldn't be Gagner bringing the best out of a vet like Hemmer.
Gagner has always been a highly adaptable player. He may never be the star stirring the drink on a line but he has the ability to fit in with nearly anyone because he is able to adapt the way he plays to suit most everyone else. People like to give Omark credit for Paajarvis offense last year but he Gagner was a bigger contributer IMO. They showed chemsitry before Omark was ever added to the line.
I have always liked Gagner. Yes he has his faults, but he also has a lot of pluses to his game too. I'm pleased with how he's turned his season around after the brutal start and still think he has a place on this team going forward.

I think for me the best part is that he has been able to overcome that pain that he is suppose to be playing with most of the year. Unless that pain magically disappeared I think this is quite remarkable.
The fact that Gagner stepped up and took one for the team and most people are ignoring it
nah, i noticed his face getting smashed in and it being an embarrassment. walking into a fight you cant win because Hall was trying to skate through 2 dudes with his head down is corny. i know you have to be a quasi-nationalist for "your team" as a hockey fan to fit the stereotype - but sorry, im not buying what youre selling.
20 points in 37 games as a 6th overall pick.
sick brah.

I can throw out useless stats too.
Gilbert Brule 2005 #6 3GP
Brassard 2006 #6 14 pts in 36 gp
Filatov 2008 #6 KHl
Or how about the guy taken right after Gagner 26 point in 43 games
