Does anyone have a legit trade rumor source for the Capitals/NHL?

I'm very curious as the trade deadline approaches. I am very interested in trades and try to analyze the best I can, but I cannot find any legit source except Dreger or McKenzie on Twitter, and I'm not making an account.

There is no such thing. Best you can do is pay attention to whatever sources are decent with other teams, and take note when they mention those teams' involvement with the Caps. And even then it's probably nothing.

the rules of thumb is that if its in the media, its not accurate. nobody inside mcphee's circle talks to the media and it seems very likely that his dealing with other teams is contingent on it staying out of the media.

The media rarely knows who the Caps will target weather it be trades or free agents. Virtually every trade of late has been a complete surprise. Save maybe Jason Arnott who was linked with the Caps as one of many possible trade destinations. Outside of that the closest I've seen the media get is Sheldon Souray and Tomas Vokoun. Souray with his time in Hershey and Vokoun signing as a free agent (though ESPN loved to predict that the Caps would trade for him).

thats a joke. there are no valid caps trade rumors that are accurate. the closest you can get is analysis that suggests that the caps need something and that there are certain players that are rumored to be available that might fill that something.

often this analysis is flawed as when the caps have been linked with trading for a goaltender at the deadline when there was no shot that happened. when the caps did trade for a goalie, huet, it came as a complete shock to the media and the analysts.
