Change of plans

All the speculation of trades etc...the Ducks have finally turned a corner. And are finally playing the way that they were built to play...by Bob M. Blake I believe is the main reason. He is relentless and shoots the puck...10 shots against Van tonight.

Keep as many core players as possible. PGR, Hiller, Fowler, Sbisa etc.

Re-sign Teemu...clearly does not want to go out this way and is ripping it up.

Re-sign Blake and Saku for less.

Re-sign Hagman

Top 6 stays the same

PGR
T-Saku-Hag
Blake-Cog-DSP

Trade Beauch, Ellis when healthy, Brookbank. Maybe even Saku and T for a playoff team, with the intention of signing them in the summer.

And try again next year with no trip to Europe and a new coach in BB

Thoughts??? Or did I drink too much wine again tonight??? As much as I love the Ducks turn around this year, I liked the idea of a top 3 draft pick in a deep draft. The way the Ducks usually play a top 3 pick would only come if BM traded for one. Perfect year to suck and tear it up next year!!!

Cogs is not a centre, Bonino has shown more at centre. Trade Beauch? No way, playing greeat and is great partner for Fowler.

The answer is 5 wins. It took 5 wins for the fans to think we turned the corner.

5 wins and the season is SAVED!!!!!

And since we want to compete next year, first line if action is to trade our anchor on defense.....

I think it's worrying that it takes Murray calling everybody out in the media every year before they bother showing up.

Which kind of begs the question...how many more seasons of the same old story are we going to have to watch before changes are made?

Best case scenario is we do a NJ Devils and go crazy in the 2nd half but still end up in the lottery.

This team needs no so much. A true leader and a top physical shutdown defenseman. I think offense will be fine next season. Hiller seems to be ok now - his kind of injury just needs time. The prospect pool looks great. With this talent level we have just small things stand between winning and loosing, mostly it's a head thing.

This is what I hope. If we manage to get into playoffs, we'll be playing against number 1 or 2 team in west and I don't think that the team will have enough strength left to be successful. Unless we play against the Sharks ofcourse.

This season after 44 games: 37 points
Last year after 44 games: 48 points

Even though we finished 4th last year, we were only 2 points in front of 8th place (Chicago) and 4 in front of 9th (Dallas)

I dunno what kind of mirracle it would take for us to get in.

It`s like - Ducks didn`t heard the alarm clock when it was ringing, and we woke up only now.

The thing i hope for is - we REMAIN our core players to play great great and FULL next season under BB. Hell, i`d even like to keep Vis (small salary next season) and Lydman. I have a feeling that their crapy seasons have to do something with that they played last seasons 2nd half through injuries, so i expect them to some kind of bounce back next season, when they`ll have their contract years.

That being said, i`d like for us to go in a #winning mode further in the season, just so Murray don`t trade any of our important assets.

But for PO`s this year - i don`t hold any big hopes.

Chances of making playoffs are slim to none, however I do believe team core is good and should not be changed. We do need couple of pieces to make pretty good team (2C and shutdown D primarily), how to acquire those pieces is where it gets tricky.

On the same note, Buffalo had 43 points through 44 games last year, and made the playoffs. Which is only 6 more points than we have. Just saying.

The East and West are actually equal this year, both 8th placed teams are on pace for 93 points. I don't think it will take 95 points to get in this year.

They need to dump Visnovsky's salary onto whatever team will take him. He just is not even close to the same player as last season, and the cap hit can be better spent of a defensive defenseman.

I don't think so, can't have only Folwer running the offense or PP. Better option would be to try and move Lydman, although Lydman has improved with decreased minutes. Hasn't commited a turnover 3 straight games.

Disagree.

He`ll make only 3m next season.

Not regarding if he`ll be like last seasons Vis or not - i`m sure he`ll live up to that contract. 3m is hard to find for a top PP quarterback and defenseman who can play ~20 min a game.

And why the hell Ducks should need to worry about cap hit? Maybe cap hit floor

I think theres good possibility that Lydman will be better next season. Shoulder injuries always tend to impact hockey players games.

Besides - haven`t he had these type of injuries 2 years (summers) in a row? If he can avoid that this season, he could be somewhat of last seasons Lydman. And if he`ll improve, i`m sure Vis will to. Those two seemed to have some chemistry. Our ''European pairing''.

Agreed. If we move Lubo, it means that we then have to replace him on the defense. And there is no one we could get who would play to his level for 3 million.
