If Shelley actually is playing tonight, let's hope he won't injure anybody. The Wild have enough injured players.
I wouldn't mind if he scored but no injuries please.
You're much better off with Shelley in instead of Rinaldo. Shelley is too slow to line anyone up on a hit and gets his ass beat when he does drop the gloves. Rinaldo is much more likely to put someone out with one of his big hits.
well he was one of how many goalies? who actually did very well as flyer goalie, needs to say
no matter if 1 or 2 years
he was actually able to get shutouts

well 3 seasons as flyer, 2.01, 2.05 and 1.83 GAA
now lets compare to bryz and bob.. or better not
He had a sub 2 gaa during his time as our goalie? Holy balls. So he's really the best goalie the flyers have had during my lifetime (with the exception of maybe Hextall)

Yes but you must also take into account the fact that he played during the clutch and grab era where goals per game were way down and that he didn't care about the playoffs.

See the problem is, i was so young during that time frame, that i really only remember some stuff.
I remember us getting blown out by Buffalo, and i remember him taking the reigns from Boucher. But as far as his play, no recollection.
I don't even think Bryz posting a shutout will return my confidence in him. I'd much rather just see a real team game, with a strong outting by him. Win or lose, getting him back on track in terms of effort and making the ones he's supposed to make, with a few extras thrown in, is a start.
He has been so pathetic lately, and hasnt said anything goofy, I guess someone finally told him, enough of the comedy act and start winning!
When a team is composed of zero 1st liners, more 3rd/4th liners than 2nd liners and a no name defense, not even Harding will be able to save them.
Well, you have two goals pretty much already scored for you. Powe as a former Flyer will have one, and Justin Falk hasn't got an NHL goal to his credit yet, so he's due as well.

LOL that is sooo true, we seem to love to give up first ever NHL goals to other team players dont we..
I have a feeling tonight will be the night the first line comes out of their slump. Big big game by Giroux and the power play will actually click some tonight. 2 on the power play and Giroux will be over 4 points!!
Let's get a big W here against a injury decimated team. Would have loved Setito playing instead of Shelley. Voracek has been awesome to watch this year with his hard work and hustle, so would be nice for him to score a goal tonight
He was a great goalie during the regular season and then gave up during the playoffs. He didn't want to play because he wasn't getting paid for it.
i dont think he got more money in czech league where he headed after..
i wasnt watching those games, but its hard to believe he would not want to or just give up, he actually was the play off or big matches goalie. look at what he won, now im not sure, 6? times czech cup where in one play off season he averaged 1 goal per match!..
also look at how many world championship tituls he won its 3, 3 gold medals, and some others or olympic medals, but there he wasnt main goalie.
So i can clearly say he was play off material, it had to be team as whole who failed in those play offs.
I only remember 02-03 in regards to Cechmanek, funny since I have watched at least 10-20 games a year since 1999 (but being 9 did not really focus on keepers!), but remember him putting in some insane performances, then following with abysmal ones. He always seemed to me, even as a 10-12 year old, to be so inconsistent, like he looked like the best keeper in the NHL one game, and awful the next, which I think is why he 'under performed', in the playoffs, over 50ish games in the regular season, the 15 really bad games he had were outweighed by the 15 incredible, with the other 20 good ones meaning his stats looked good.
But in the playoffs, when he had 2 awful games, 2 great games and 2 mediocre, while his stats were ok, the play itself due to inconsistency did not give us a chance.
Does always confuse me when people say Hextall was the last good goalie we had, Cechmanek was awesome for us IMO.
Cechmanek was a good goalie but he had his flaws in style, especially on wraparounds and over committing which got exposed after a while. Tendencies get exposed. However, as I have often said, Flyers' goalies have received a bad rap over time as if they were singularly responsible for failed victories and Cechmanek is included in that. There were issues with his teammates and a team has to want to play for its goalie. Part of the problem, yes, and sometimes a major cause, but not the only reason for not winning Cup(s).
