I like the title of your proposal a lot!

Can't say so for the proposal itself.

The value isnt bad... I dont think ottawa does this because they are playing so well right now and it doesnt make sense.

Id do it from a sens perspective if two things were switched. Boyes and Stafford.

Instead of the sens first this year it would be Anderson.

Send a message via AIM to kshymkiw
Gonchar is past his prime.

So BUF is giving up Roy, Leopold, Miller, Boyes, 2012 1st and 2012 2nd for Spezza and a 2012 1st.

BUF gets hosed.

- R. Miller (6.2mil) = j. Spezza (7mil)
- B. Boyes (4mil)

- Buf 1st round pick 2012 = Ottawa 1st 2012
- Buf 2nd round pick 2012

- D. Roy (4 mil) = Gonachar(5.5), Puempel
- J Leopold (3 mil)

...

Even before you consider the whole interdivisional aspect, the value for Buffalo is awful.

Boyes, Leopold, and the 2012 2nd rd pick don't equal anything... They are in this proposal for no reason.

The Sabres fanboy version of that deal is Gaustad, Boyes, Stafford, and Gragnani for Spezza.

And there is no way the Sabres give up their 2012 1st rounder when it's a top 10 pick right now and could be top 5 by the time draft day rolls around.

Ottawa keeps All-Star Spezza.

There is no need for Miller as they have Lehner.

boyes is not a 1st liner... 2nd liner at best.
miller is good but is getting old.

roy is small and 50-65 pt center... (on pace for 50 this year)
leopold older and not that fast (on pace for 16pts)

and gonchar has 24pts in 39 games...

value is fair.

Buffalo gives up far too much.

1. Gonchar has no value whatsoever in a trade. His salary kills it, he's worth a 4th - 7th rounder given Buffalo's standing.

2. Roy would cost Puempel +. Given the pieces in your trade. Roy + BUF 2nd for Puempel + OTT 1st is probably close value wise.

So what's left . . . Miller, Boyes, Leopold and a 1st round pick for Spezza? That's overpaying by miles.

Besides for the obvious reasons, why does Ottawa do this? To get Ryan Miller? Not sure if you've noticed but Craig Anderson hasn't been playing that bad lately.

I'd rather keep what we've got than get that package from Buffalo.

If the Sens acquired Miller, the Sabres would have to take on Anderson's contract because there's no way the team would invest nearly $10M on two goaltenders.

Gonchar is a 37 year old defenseman with one year left on his contract. Miller is 31 and he's signed to 2014. Roy's coming off of an injury and a slow year for the entire team, but plays in every situation - he's worth a lot more than you think.

Roy is a good second line centre but he isn't a first line guy. This proposal makes little to no sense to me. Surprised it was proposed by a Sens fan.
