What was Ott thinking there? Not that they were going to do anything anyway, but wow, come on.

Anyway, we're not going to win many (or any) games without our top 2 centers and best defenseman. You just want to see them bring an honest effort to the rink and we got that at least.

Good effort, just didn't have the horses to win. Detroit will probably embarrass us. Actually what will happen is we will play a physical game like we did tonight and since Detroit is the leagues baby they will coddle the Wings and give them about 10 powerplays.

so any bets on how long this losing streak lasts? I'm guessing long enough to put the Stars down with the Oilers in the conference.

Nieuwendyk's days are numbered, which I regret because I think he's a good GM. Gaglardi's going to clean house though after the team collapses.

They deserved better tonight. They played tight defensive hockey, but what are you going to do with this roster against that club at home?

I still think our season is over, but I thought this game was pretty good all things considering. The Blues are a legit club, and we're not. Not surprising.

Niewy has a lot of rope, this is going to be his first offseason with a real ability to make a team. He's not going anywhere.

I don't think it is as bad as it looks.
You can obviously forgive the offense, but this defense is pretty atrocious.
There was a turnover literally every other time they tried to get the puck out of their zone.
They are also quite crowded on bottom six forwards, mainly at center, when healthy.
I will sleep tonight dreaming of an upgrade on defense.

Small positive from tonight was Goose Imo. I thought he looked great tonight joining the rush and he is the only damn defenseman we have that can get his shot through from the point, I'll take his accuracy over Souray's power any day. Hopefully he keeps this up and starts to get his production going again.

You're kind of getting ahead of yourself don't you think? He has had absolutely no chance to spend any of the new money.

THAT'S the thing you pointed out out of that post?? We are 6 points out of division lead and the guy is declaring us out of the playoffs.. You all saw tonight what kind of a team is leading West and to me it was very confident performance from Dallas.. Nothing is lost except one of Benn's minor organ..

Arguably the least talented squad the Stars have iced(in a single game) in 20 years, or more. But they still managed to make a very competitive game of it against the best in the west, not to mention a very well coached team in St. Louis. Lethonen was superb. Gogo was good. Team is playing as a team more so now than at any time since Tippett's team's best efforts.

That is going to be interesting to see. He's been very quiet so far, but that's understandable given that there isn't much that can be done mid-season.

Whatever we think of Nieuwy, remember that Gaglardi didn't hire him, and it's not like Gaglardi is a Dallas guy with emotional ties to Nieuwy. Who knows what he plans to do. He could very well keep the whole front office and coaching staff together. He could want to bring in "his guys".

Pretty solid game given everything. If I hadn't had to listen to McGuire and Emrick, I might not have come out of it so frustrated.

I did find it amusing in a sad sort of way that after all the Wandell discussion, he gets tossed for a faceoff which makes Morrow take it, and he loses the draw that leads directly to the only goal of the game. Don't know who did what to get tossed, since wingers can cause it too, so it's not like I can pin it on anyone. But it did make me sad that it came down essentially to about the fifth guy in the top six they want taking faceoffs.

That said, with the issues they have right now, I can't come out of that too disheartened.
