Slight exaggeration don't you think? Where is this Kruger we are hearing about?
And this train of thoughts was about which player was more expendable and good for the Hawks in the long term.
No more of an exaggeration, than ppl claiming Pirri is ready for the top 6.
And Pirri is by far the more expendable piece, we already have enough offense, long term, but what we really lack is some good defensive players, and a guy that could possibly fill Bollands role if he were to leave or get hurt.

Kruger>Pirri short term and long term
I'm not sure I read anyone say Pirri is ready for the Top 6. IMO neither of them are ready for the Top 6 today, yet one of them has been playing there for a good chunk of the season.
I'm also not sure I can agree with Kruger being a better bet than Pirri long term. For the most part, if a player is willing to learn, (and Pirri by all accounts is eager and coachable), it is easier to learn to play responsible defense than to develop a shot and an offensive game. Hell Kane has made some real good strides in the last couple of years.
The other reality is, LONG term, neither of these kids could be the real answer for the Hawks, and McNeil or K-Hayes could arrive on the scene. I just don't see the logic on shoe-horning these guys into the permanent plans for the Hawks. But it's clear there are some folks on this board who you simply cannot discuss anything related to Kruger objectively or intelligently.

Pirri hasn't really impressed me with anything at the NHL level, Kruger at least impresses me with his defense at times, and willingness to go to the dirty areas. He also helps our PK being a guy who can be effective on it, Pirri would never play PK.
Pirri may end up with more points in his career than Kruger, but IMO, Kruger will be the better NHL player.

If you were paying better attention, you'd realize that Q had Pirri killing penalties in his last few games here. Is he ready to join the top 6 in Chicago. Probably not but it is quite obvious to me that Kruger isn't either. He's definitely a tweener at this point in his development and it is a problem that Stan needs to address if we want to compete in the PO's.
What he did or didn't do in Europe is of no consequence. He has youth on his side so I can just hope that Kruger develops into half the player some of you folks think he can be.

He had 59sec of PK time in his 4 games, or 14sec/GP.
I paid attention.
(Kruger get's 1:16min/G)
And for the upteenth time, I am not supporting Kruger being a top 6 forward, and frankly would rather see him spend more time in the A, but he is still a better option than Pirri.
I'm pretty sure in his first or second game recalled HE was the one to level somebody at center ice right off the draw. Wasn't the one who was getting leveled himself unlike Kruger.

and dump Frolik's contract.
as Backup, I'd love to get Vehanen. I know he is old, but this guy is amazing
Back up to who? Steve Mason 2.0, if Crawford is this teams starting goalie next year I am going to write them off before the season and have a peaceful winter not pulling my hair out as he lets in soft goal after soft goal.
-Pick up Wideman UFA
-Trade for Roy- Use Prospects and Picks/Try and put frolik in the deal
-Get rid of frolik
-Resign Mayers
-Use Smith or Carcillo if healthy enough as a 13th forward.
-Try and find a decent/young up and coming backup to challenge crawford
-Try to fill out the roster in the offseason because the parody in the NHL drives the trade deadline prices to high these days.

I can get behind this team. Though, I'd move Stalberg in the off-season for a 2nd + decent prospect and move Kruger to wing with Bolland. Promote Bollig full-time.
Also, not sure you could get Matt Carle that cheap.. otherwise, this team looks real solid.
To whoever wanted Wideman at nearly 5M per.. ugh, no. You'd regret that contract 20 games into the season, if that.

I was thinking of moving Stalberg as well. Maybe recouping those picks.
If anything, we have the cap space to sign Carle anyways.

Olsen as #7 is not what he needs. Rockford or Top6. I think I'd keep Oduya for this money. His D is better than Carle's. Doubt we will have a chance to get Roy without giving up Bolland. BUF will try to make a run next year too.
other than that, if this is the Roster we are going into next season, I'd love it
Instead of commenting on others I gave it a shot myself.
My difference is a trade for Bernier and Green involving whatever it takes, 1st round picks, Morin, LaLonde, Pirri, whatever.

My other one involves the same team and most of the same trade with a change to make sure it happens. Add Kane and have Brown come back. I know it will piss off people but I know it would make this team more complete and add some cap space for moves during the season if needed.
