Price of Parise

Aaron Musick, from Hockeybuzz, was speculating on the likely price of Parise, as it appears more and more likely he will be traded, and or test FA.

Musick muses that his trade value might return something like:

" Scoring winger to help offset loss of Parise
Goaltender/goaltending prospect. Unless Frazee or Clermont are the real deal, they need a prospect for when Brodeur retires
Defenseman to help anchor the defense of New Jersey
A draft pick "

So I guess just to toss out an idea, and speculatory place for other clubs....

From Toronto:

Clarke MacArthur
Ben Scrivens / Jussi Rynaas
Cody Franson / Keith Aulie
1st round 2012

it's interesting with the other teams knowing that N.J. gets nothing if he walks. That being said probably a top 4 d-man,top prospect and a first.

I thought this was a proposal for the goalie(price) for the winger(Parise)

Am I the only 1?

Not a Devils fan, but that has to be an overpayment. Even if Parise was signed that's a pretty decent package.

The Penguins could probably offer something like

Despres
Theissen (Last year's AHL goalie of the year)
Kennedy/Tangradi
1st

He'll get the Kovalchuk deal. A first round pick, a couple of good young players/prospects and a role player or two.

No its not. If he is resigned that is good value wise.

If he sint resigned then alot less.

the pieces do NOT have the same value

Lupul >> 1st

Kadri > Frattin > 2nd

i'd do:

Schenn
Colborne
1st
2nd

for a SIGNED Parise ... Burke wouldnt give up Schenn for a rental ...

maybe Colborne + 1st, but that may be an overpayment, but i'd still do it

Sorry I should clarify. I meant if I was the Devils.

I just threw up something that hit what the OP said they were looking for. I think New Jersey could get a better offer elsewhere.

That's not atrocious, considering most other Leafs fans would make Kadri the centerpiece of the deal, which is absurd.

If I could have my way, I would want Lupul+Colborne+Schenn+1st... But that probably won't happen... If a deal were to go down, it would probably be centered around Lupul/Schenn and a 1st, with other possible moving pieces.

I still maintain that Parise will be a Devil for life.

lol ********, Frazee is done for - Kinkaid and Wedgewood are our top 2 prospects at this point. We have a decent goalie prospect pool already, Lou's paying attention.

Marty's expecting to stay for next season (though I hope at a much lower fee) and Kinkaid should be ready by the time 2013 rolls around. If the Devils need any goaltending, it should be for an NHL-caliber goalie who can start anywhere from 40 to 55 games. Either way, the Devils are willing to shell out cash in free agency for one anyway.

The only way you'll get Lou to even pick up the phone is to offer two of:

scoring RW
top 4 dman
NHL-ready goalie

that have actual value and upside, and you'd probably have to add a pick or two. It may be a brutal overpayment, but you always get screwed with Lou.

All of this post is implying that Lou actually trades his important, pending UFA's like he did with Gomez and the likes. Oh wait...

It's actually a gross overpayment from the leafs, Kovalchuk didn't even got half the value of the package that was offer and the gap between kovalchuk and Parise is not that much, heck even Pronger didn't got that much value and he wasn't a UFA unlike Parise.

Don Waddell is not Lou. He will get something good if a trade happens.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Lou would undermine a playoff team by trading its captain and best player.

Please, for your sanity and mine, stop reading and believing Eklund and Garrioch.

This! It would be a terrible message to the fan base if a playoff contender trades their top offensive player because they are scared you won't be able to re-sign him in the off-season.

Not saying he gets traded but to me assets would far outway one playoff run.

Lindback
Sk
Josi/Ellis/Blum
1st

You mean Bouwmeester? The Panthers spent 10 years in the basement, but that is not the reason.

When you are a playoff team with a chance (however minuscule) at the Cup, you don't throw in the towel by selling off important pending UFAs for futures. Doing that sends the wrong message to both your players and your fans. I cannot think of a playoff team in recent memory that did that.

For Parise Ottawa would give up Jared Cowen, Milan Michalek, Mika Zibanejad and a 2012 1st
