Is Geno playing better without Sid than with Sid in the team?

Yeah I'd prefer that he be sent back down at this point. When Asham comes back from his illness, then Tangradi should be sent down and if they really want to have a player called up just in case, then bring up Williams or somebody.

The only alternative to normalville I see would be this.

Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Jeffrey/Sullivan-Crosby-Duper
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Asham-Vitale-Adams

That is really only a short term solution though. You cannot leave Sid with those wingers into the playoffs. Either a trade needs to be made, Malkin needs to give up Kunitz, or Staal moves up to the wing.

I personally think we'd be fine stacking the lines and having Staal in the top 6, but that's not a popular opinion around here.

Stop the Duper with Malkin madness.

Malkin is playing really well right now. So is Neal. To me it's a combination of things as to why Malkin is playing so well. Certainly having a capable guy to set up like Neal gives Malkin the confidence that he doesn't have to do it all himself. Don't mess with that regardless of Sid's health.

If and when Sid comes back, I say you roll the lines like the following:

Jeffrey - Malkin - Neal (you can experiment with Jeffrey, Sully, and Kennedy and see who sticks)
Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Cooke - Staal - Kennedy
Adams - Vitale - Asham
Park - Sullivan

You roll the Malkin line as your number 1 even strength, with Sid and Staal's lines getting even ice time. Then throw in a few shifts with Malkin as wing with Sid and Staal or a combination of that. As far as Park and Sully being the extras, I think you lose the need for Park's slight offensive flair over Vitale and Sully has to earn his spot as a scoring forward. Make that winger spot with Malkin the spot to battle for between Jeffrey, Sully, and possibly Kennedy.

Of course, an upgrade Sid's right wing or Malkin's left would be nice as well. This is all semantics though since we know more injuries will occur.

I would as well. The problem is I'd hate to throw Geno off the center spot with how he's rolling. A Staal - Malkin - Neal line would just be unstoppable though.

That would be fine as well. People argue that Staal doesn't work well on the wing, but I think it's a different story when paired with Malkin.

Geno's okay, but he's no Pesonen... I mean, Tangradi.

Damn typos.

Hmmm.....I've only seen bits and pieces of games since December but Kunitz - Malkin - Neal looks "keep together as long as possible good". At least Malkin and Neal should stay together though.

How about:

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis/Sullivan
Jeffrey/Staal - Malkin - Neal
Sullivan/Dupuis - Staal/Jeffrey - Kennedy
Cooke + 2 of who's left

Looks pretty good to me. Almost a futile discussion at this point considering 87 and the rest of the team's injury plague.

As for the topic at hand, heck we haven't seen them both in the lineup with this roster to make a recent observation. But I think Malkin disappears less when Crosby is out and is more consistently outstanding. He defers to Crosby a bit, I think he kinda admits as much when talking about Crosby. There are games when they're both clicking and motivated though, that's when we're pretty much impossible to beat.

The Jeffrey thing on the other hand could be intriguing...
Yeah, Tangradi isn't nearly a good enough skater to play beside Crosby.

If Jeffrey can play 3C i'd be happy with it. Especially if Dupuis and Kennedy are the wingers.

They certainly seemed to create a lot of quality scoring chances last night that they couldn't cash in on.

If Jeffrey continues to keep this up, they're going to have to bump either Jeffrey or Staal up. I don't see any situation where Jeffrey isn't on the roster if he continues to play well and stays healthy.

He was close to 20 minutes last night too, so they clearly value him out there. I remember seeing him on the PK as well. He did a good job there pressuring the puck carrier IIRC.

Touche Mr. Burgundy. I don't know if Staal would have changed that though.

Oh no, I'm saying that they were doing a lot of good things, so it would be a line that I wouldn't mind seeing.

Kunitz - Crosby - Deadline Pickup
Staal - Malkin - Neal
Dupuis - Jeffrey - Kennedy

We'll see if Crosby comes back this season though.

I think a lot is going to depend on whether shero knows if crosby is out for the year or not by the deadline.

I just want an answer one way or the other by the deadline. If Sid isn't close, then you put him on LTIR or shut him down for the season. I do not want Sid coming into the postseason without a considerable amount of games under his belt.

We're still a contender without Sid as long as Shero can pick up a couple forwards so Staal can be given a chance to produce offense on a nightly basis. As well as match up better physically to the top teams in the East.

Geno is not longer in Beast Mode, he's advanced to God Mode!

Geno might be the best he's ever been during the regular season. He is dominating and playing a well rounded game. Simply electric to watch scoring some sick goals too!
