based on 50 games, Lundqvist deserves Hart and Vezina

If the season ended today, I would hope Lundqvist won both the Hart and the Vezina. Hope he keeps up his play for the home stretch and brings home the cup. Imagine if he won the Hart, Vezina, and Conn Smythe in the same year. Has that ever happened?

I don't think he'll have the (sexy) win or games played totals that those voting will be looking for out of a goalie MVP.

He could definitely be in the conversation, but I'd see it going elsewhere, like to Malkin if the Pens can make the playoffs.

Never happened. Only Orr, Lafleur, and Gretzky have won the Hart and the Smythe in the same year.

I disagree. I think he should win the Vezina, but definitely not the Hart. If any goalie deserves the Hart, it should be Quick AINEC.

Certainly not Hank, who will play only around 60-65 games.

Rarely happens, like a pitcher winning the MVP and the CY. General thinking is goalies have their own awards.

Besides, Malkin is absolutely carrying the Penguins in the face of a ton of adversity. It'll go to him if the Hart was handed out right now.

You can be the best goalie in the NHL but not the most important goalie to his team. If any goalie is getting the Hart this year, it's Quick. That being said, Malkin has been carrying the Penguins for quite a while now. I see him being the early favorite.

I don't know much, but I DO know it would be criminal if Hank loses out on the Vezina this year. He's been lights out and consistent all year long. It would be a damn shame if he doesn't get it.

And what about Girardi for a Norris? Would LOVE to see that happen. He has to at least be in the conversation, right?

This is what I was gonna say. Without Malkin playing how he is the Pens would be lucky to make the playoffs. They will be a scary team if this thing with Crosby has been figured out. If they get him back for the end of the season/playoffs they are the one team in the East that scares me.

Unlikely. As much as it may drive people crazy, offense matters.

Girardi, as good as he's been, is not above Chara, Weber, Suter, Karlsson, Lidstrom, etc.

Hey a pitcher won a cy young and mvp in same year for the 1st time in a long time...maybe the same thing will happen again. I would love it, but I dont see it happening. However, he should definitely be the favorite for the vezina right now.

Right but if he wins the Norris it will be because of his offense, hence offense matters more when it comes to winning the Norris

Scott Stevens never won the Norris and he was the best defenseman of his era in my opinion.

Vezina yes. Only goaltender in the top five for GAA (2nd), SV% (1st), AND Wins (5th). Brian Elliot and Jonathan Quick are the only other goalies to even appear in two of those categories (GAA/SV%) Quick is 7th in wins and Elliot is 23rd. Hart, doubt it. He'll have to pull out a 50 win season for that. (then again Theodore won it with only 30 wins but he willed the Habs into the playoffs that year. Hasek won it with probably not as impressive numbers.) He deserve a nomination at the very least.
