This. Also, we're not even touching on the fact that Vis. is a LHD which isn't needed in Vancouver.

That being said, I don't think Beauchemin's value from the Duck's point of view is really that high. He's UFA at the end of the year, and you risk losing him for nothing. Like I said, I'll do a 2nd and Prab Rai, and maybe a conditional 3rd next year if he signs long term. But a 2nd and a mid-prospect for a rental is a pretty solid offer.
I know he said "we", but he doesn't represent the Canucks fanbase as a whole.

As for the OP, Booth or Ballard have to be included for cap reasons (pro-rated, we have between 3 and 3.5 million dollars in annual cap spave we can add at the dead line), and to be honest, as much as I love Luby's game, I don't think he is as perfect a fit as we are hyping ourselves up for. If the salary cap levelled out some how, Raymond and Alberts/Sulzer/Rome/Ballard (Anaheim's choice), with a pick or possibly an equivilant prospect (I value prospects more then picks) would be/could be something the Canucks could do, but with Raymond's recovery and game so far, not to mention his chemistry with Hodgson, I'd need to think it over.

My trade proposal is not suited to Anaheim's needs. We need a PP specialist/puck mover, and Visnovsky is Anaheim's only really defenseman that currently fits that role. My offered return is a top six forward with speed and upside, a sort of Selanne-lite (not that I'm comparing what I think Raymond can do to what Selanne has done) to play on the second line after Selanne and/or Koivu hang up their skates, and at the very least is a step up on Blake. The defensemen offered are not number ones. Most of them do not make good top 4 defenseman in a pinch, but provide a warm body that can play 15ish minutes a night in relief. Ballard might even surprise you, but to fans on HF, I know his value is nil. I don't feel that way, but if he is down our depth chart, I don't see him redeeming himself with a superior player coming back.

Vis is a number one Dman on Anaheim, and would be top pairing here for sure when he is healthy. We have a player like him in Salo, but Salo hasn't won a scoring race for defenceman in recent memory (ever). Another option to pair with Edler, while Salo is out, but I don't see the Canucks over committing here.
