Going to the Game TONIGHT!

Man I am pumped. Get to see the Oilers live for just the 2nd time in my life! I got seats on the glass in the corner! Hoping to see a "W" and the start of a winning streak. The only Oiler fan living in Columbus, at least I think!

Gonna be a good night boys!

TV: Sportsnet West (HD)
RADIO: 630 CHED & Oilers Radio Network
PUCK DROP: 5:08 p.m. MST

Oiler's preview here:

Team Scope:

Oilers: After starting a three-game homestand with a hard-fought overtime game against New Jersey that didn't go its way and then getting smoked by Anaheim to lose its fifth in a row, Edmonton was badly in need of two points Sunday against Los Angeles. The Oilers were forced to grit this one out, as Josh Green's power-play goal in the first period was answered by Justin Williams in the third. But on this occasion, extra time went in their favor as Taylor Hall capitalized on a Williams high-sticking penalty to score at 3:06 and give the Oilers a 2-1 win.

"If you look at the last few weeks, the one player that has answered the bell every night is Taylor," coach Tom Renney said. "If you want to know what passion looks like in a hockey player, watch Taylor Hall. I'm not sure you can teach it. It might be part of your DNA. But I am glad he's got it."

Blue Jackets: This will be Todd Richards' fourth game as interim coach, and he can be encouraged by the way Columbus has played halfway through a four-game homestand. After edging the Coyotes for Richards' first win with the team, the Blue Jackets took the Sharks down to the wire in a 2-1 loss on Saturday. Trailing by a goal entering the third period, they drew even just over six minutes in thanks to captain Rick Nash. But before they could get to overtime and earn at least a point, Patrick Marleau scored off a rebound for San Jose with 2:57 remaining.

"I'm disappointed with the result, losing a game, but happy with the way the guys played," Richards said. "We had to overcome a lot of obstacles in the game. Having played last night and coming off an emotional and physically draining win, when we needed the push in the third we got as much as we could. Unfortunately, they made one more play than we did."

You'll have a great time. I was there last season on Halloween night and Hall scored his first NHL goal.
Its really a nice arena to watch a hockey game, too bad there is not too many fans in the stands.

Playing worst team in the league. check
Coming off spirited win. check
Away from home, no distractions. check
Sound bites all indicate they know what it takes to win. check

All the ingredients for a loss.

Don't want it to happen,.....but what can I say.

Funny thing about that being someone on our board said the exact same thing (when OP started a parallel thread there).

This game for me will determine whether we really are destined for last overall or not. We usually beat these guys I believe, played well last game. I think the Oilers win this one.

Ya I wish I could get that. I just payed $400 off stubhub for 2 tickets to the Edmonton/Calgary game partway up the upper bowl. Wasn't Columbus doing a bunch of promotions earlier where it was like $30 for a ticket and you got like $40 worth of stuff?

Wow.

Yea they have been aggressive with promotions. They do all kinds of stuff. It's not like a religion here unfortunately like it is in Oil Country, which is the way it should be everywhere. NHL would be in a lot better shape. Here people are more into NCAA Football (Buckeyes) and the NFL teams and MLB teams.

I do think if the team ever gets competitive, they'll regain some of the fan base. The losing product without any roots that run deep (no one's father was a huge blue jackets fan if you're my age) really hurts this franchise again unlike Edmonton.

I can't believe how expensive tickets are in Edmonton... I'm gonna have to start saving for more than just the flight and hotel for when I visit I think.

I hope you don't mind OP, I just added a few more details.

I wonder if the Oilers can prolong Howson's employment with CBJ tonight. Lets see if we can beat a team below us in the standings for once.
