The thing about Brown when compared to Nash is that he's not a pure goal scorer. Brown is a wrecking ball that cashes in quite a bit on rebounds and garbage goals. He's the kind of guy I'd love to see with Stepan and Gaborik, not necessarily Richards and Callahan.

I like Brown because unlike Nash he's not on a hideous boat-anchor contract, also his style of hockey would fit in with NYR immediately

i heard somewhere, i believe it was on the TSN analysis of the Carter trade last night, that Brown's leadership, not his production is more along the lines of why LA is interested in moving their Captain. do you think it would still be worth a shot to see him with NYR with that being said?

i know we have an established, tight knit leadership unit as it stands now. do you think taking Brown out of the Captaincy role to probably not wearing a letter at all and being the "new guy" could only make matters worse? possibly having the attitude that Carter was reported to have in CBJ?

Probably it would make things better. Unless the guy's an egomaniac, I think a move out of such a pressurized role could be great. What athlete wouldn't want to hear, 'just go out there and do your thing. Forget about the other responsibilities'?

"DOWNTOWN DUSTIN BROWN"
Got a little ring to it doesn't it!

I am huge fan of the American born players. Would love to one day see an american born top 6. I don't think it's ever been done before?

Won't with Richards here for so long but I would be lying to myself if there wasn't a little American bias towards Dustin Brown.

End of the day though it depends on the asking price. Would be excited to have him on the Rangers.

I would like to keep Dubinsky if we are dealing for Brown.

Brown is a RW. We are weak at LW. I'm not saying I don't make that trade, but i'd rather deal something else. Anisimov+Thomas+first, maybe.

I would LOVE Brown. He fits the mold. If Sather can add Brown AND Nash, this team is set moving forward for a long time. Difficult to play against, big, strong.

Dubinsky + McIlrath + 1st '12 for Nash

Sauer + Thomas + 2nd '12 + 3rd '12 for Brown

I have some interest in Ott as well, as he has some history of playing with Richards.

I would love to have "Doo Doo Brown." I think he fits Torts system with his style of play. I'd rather have "Dukie Brown" then Nash due to their respective cap hits. I would also not think twice about trading Dubi + for Broadway Brown.

LOL nice title.

I'm all for Nash, as long as Stepan, McDonagh, MDZ or Kreider aren't heading the other way.

Brown? Love his game, but seems redundant on this team.

Yah, it doesn't make much sense from an LA standpoint to downgrade the position at a higher cap hit.

Is Brown enough of an upgrade that you risk tinkering with the chemistry though?

I don't think you could have enough players like him. A team full of Browns and Callahans would win a cup.

I join the call for Brown if as follows:
Thomas + Boyle + 2012 1st + 2013 2nd + Paveltenko + Wovywitka
for
Brown, A. Martinez

rationale:
Kings want Ws. Granted AA has shown he can do W, but they really want sniper Ws. I had this discussion at their forum. They have extra D and JW is injury insurance on the bottom.
If they'll take him we should add a salary dump, Avery or WW.

This would not the elite sniper we'd still need, but a solid contributor.
Martinez a ++
We keep AA.

Win win win.
Don't want Nash + his cap etc unless its Dubinsky + no picks + cap dump McIrath, no Erixon, etc.

THIS would make me so incredibly happy.

Problem is. It would make a ton of other teams happy as well. He is what EVERY team wants; and asking price could be something substantial. I still don't understand, given what he brings to the table, why on earth L.A. wants to move him (especially considering he's captain)--is it as simple as a numbers/salary game?

Lombardi loves his DMEN like McIlrath.

Anisimov and McIlrath package?

Without Johnson, does LA need a d-man that can play now? Erixon?

Dreger said it was a young defensemen and a secondary scoring forward.
