A win would be huge... especially if you factor in the way Ottawa (currently 7th) has been playing in the last 3 or 4 weeks.

We also have 2 games in hand on the Sens...still a huge hole to dig out of, but hopefully a win vs the Leafs and we can start to make some teams uncomfortable...

I would love to see us make it, but I think we will fall 5-6 pts shy...but ya never know...

Never underestimate Mo...momentum...

If Montreal has any chance of making it back they need a 6 or 7 game winning streak followed by .700 hockey there after.

Markov's knee better be bionic!

The odds are very long ones, would definbitely be fun to beat the Leafs and make their chances worse.

The two realistic teams we could catch are Ottawa(63 in 57 games) and Toronto(62 in 55 games). Puts us 10 behind Ottawa but with 2 in hand and 9 behind Toronto with none in hand.

We would need one or both to slide and to play great hockey.

Technically we would have to beat out NYI TB Buffalo Winnipeg and Washington also as they have better points per game averages right now. Winning the next 2 would make it interesting(getting to .500).

So yeah the #8 team would lose and the habs win but what about the teams in the9-10-11 spot will they all lose too

And yet Price was. So what's your point? Obviously a top 5 pick guarantees nothing but we would be more likely to pick an impact player than at a higher draft #

Ottawa is actually closer. Technically if we win our next 2 games we are 6 back of Ottawa...but Washington has a better record than them and 3 games in hand(2 points back).

I just want them to trade Gill,Moen and Campoli.

I think the habs will end the season on a strong note. So not a top5 draft pick not a playoff spot but a good young core to build around next year.

Beating the Leafs is always priority number one. If it were the last game of the season and we could knock out the Leafs with a win or guarantee first overall pick (Yakopov) I'd still want us to win.

That being said, yeah, it's possible but we need to go on one hell of a run. You never know, with Markov back in the lineup and the players playing so loose, it's always possible. However, a loss tonight would most certainly be the death nail. 11 points more in less than 30 games is not going to happen for any team. 9 points, ehhh, still not likely but possible.

I want to see how far the Habs can go this season if they don't dump key players at the deadline. The only ones I wouldn't be averse to trading are Gomez, Gill, Campoli, Woe-ber, and perhaps Moen.

That's how you cope with adversity - take that tankers!

I am a very proud Habs fan right now; everyone (well... maybe not Palushaj) is playing well.
  • 9 points away from the 7th place – with two games in hand
  • 7 points away from the 8th place
  • 6-3-1 in the last 10 games

They are still fighting an uphill battle but hope is back in town!

Well there's one win we needed. Now we need a lot more and soon.

Like I said in the other thread, it is totally possible to make it. The East is incredibly weak right now and we can clearly make it. And after, well, that would be another story. But as far as making it? Absolutely.

Still a huge hole, but nice to see some passion from the whole team...

with buffalo and tampa stinking it up, two teams that everyone expected to do good, including me, the east is very weak.

We should still be sellers. By all means keep trying to make it but sell.

imo, leafs and sens won't make it. Goaltending/defence is too inconsistent, and they both rely so heavily on offence. Not saying Habs will make it, but this past week has obviously helped, and if they take 4 or 5 of 6 pts this week, they'll give themselves on outside shot.

Habs need another 38-40 points to make it. So roughly 19-20 wins in their last 26 games.

Huge challenge.

i dont think flordia will make it either. Wsh will take over that 1st place in that division, and the rest of the teams will not make the PO.

Besides Campoli, i would keep all the others potential UFA, IF the team is just a handful of points from the 8th spot at trade deadline.

Getting a bunch of 2nd, 3rd or 4th draft picks won't help the team this year to ma ke the playoffs if there is a fair possibility to make them.

17-6-3 or the equivalent to get to 92 points. No judgements, just sayin!
