Strome suffers facial fractures - out at least 2 weeks

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/jrh...215234286.html

Quote:
Strome will undergo surgery on Wednesday in St. Catharines to repair what Williamson, in elaborating on an earlier report, called "a couple cracks in his cheekbone" that he sustained Friday when he was punched during a scrum by the Sudbury Wolves' Brody Silk. The New York Islanders first-round will miss at least two weeks.

While he is not a NHL regular he has played in the NHL. Strome and O'marra`s game are totally different styles.

Facial fractures is nothing to really worry about when it comes to hockey, good thing.

Rest well Strome

New Public Enemy #1 - can we send Haley back to juniors for one game?

Looks like a punk.

From what I understood Strome was playing really well for Niagara after the WJC. 40 points in 28 games is not bad at all. A shame that Strome is going to be slowed by injury.

Sucks for Strome.

He'll be just fine. That he is involved in a scrum just adds some jam to his overall game.

A few facial fractures I can live with. A torn up knee, groin, hip or shoulder = much bigger problem.

Video of Strome breaking his cheekbone

The OHL laid a 12 game ban on Brody Silk for this punch.

Glad to see there was no retaliation by the Ice Dogs. When Stome gets to the Isles he will already be used to his team mates not standing up for each other.

I don't know, it looked like DP against the Penguins goalie last year. Looked like Strome was engaged and ready to fight. Considering Strome has fought before, he needs to be ready for a punch. Expected a lot worse, like Domi/Samuelsson back in the day. Wasn't exactly a cheap shot, they were in a grapple.

Def. disagree here. Strome was tangled with another player and the Silk guy came up from behind him and grabbed him by the head. A scrum then happens and Strome comes out of the bottom with this Silk guy again in his face. Strome pushed away with his gloves still on and the guy clocks him in the face. Looked like Silk was on a mission to take Strome out from the beginning.

I look at it that way as well. I was taught to always be ready in scrums like that. I didn't think that was worth 12 games.

Is there any way we can put a disguise on Haley and send him to Niagra?

Wow, nobody knew I was joking, lol. Guess I should have put a JK. As far as O'Maara playing in the NHL, I think you should know what I mean about actually making a team. He sucks. They do have very different playing styles. Strome plays well, O'Maara does not.

I agree after watching the video a few times. Even though Strome was engaged in the scrum, he was definitely not prepared for a fight, so this is essentially a sucker punch. If they had separated, dropped the gloves and squared off it would be a different story.
