Eddie Lack is an NHL-calibre goalie. Trust me, he'll be just fine. Schneider needs to get traded this Summer so Lack can shine. No way anyone takes on Lou now, and you have a kid who deserves to be up in the big leagues and Scnieds deserves his shot at superstardom as a starter on a team like Tampa Bay.
And in about 3-4 years you can copy and paste that exact post, only subbing Schneider's name with Lack, and the original Lack with Cannata.

True, that 5.3 cap hit is just too much, and the whole Nash saga just proves no one will take on bad contracts.
I do know you were high on Lack, to put it lightly. Have you watched him this year? My understanding is that he started off slowly, but has picked it up lately?

I watched him closely all of last season. Jets season ticket holder and have no clue what's happening with Vancouver's prospects or Lack, besides the numbers. I know Lack has gone from a .919 save percentage to .926 in his past several games and is getting more games, minutes, and his numbers are better than Climie's. Of course anyone can tell you that. He looks like he's on par. Notice his shootout record this year is the **** compared to last season. He is usually dominate 1-on-1, so I have no idea what's going on there.

3-4 years? That is some wishful and silly thinking. Not only on your behalf, but on the Canucks if they do that. Try this Summer bro. Schneider is 26 and doesn't want to be a bench warmer for Lou anymore. His time is now and with teams in need of a quality goalkeeper like Columbus and Tampa Bay, he's not going to be thrilled with maintaining the current status quo. No way Van will pay 3.5+ mill-plus which he deserves. Guy is a starter quality goalie. He's a UFA this Summer correct? Well, if that's the case, I see someone trading for Cory, where Vancouver can make it happen with Lack in the system. Or someone throws out an offer sheet for Cory. No way Van ties up two goalies for close to 10 mill per, and hold back a better goalie in my opinion (in Lack) in the minors.

5.3M is a great cap hit for what he brings to the table..

It seems like you misunderstood his post. And Schneider is still RFA this summer.

Schneider is RFA this off-season.
BTW if he were UFA then offer sheets do not enter into the equation - any team can sign him without any compensation.
I really did... hate when I bugger up especially when it wasn't my intent. I pride on my knowledge. In any case, it's not a good cap hit in today's goalie market. Bryz is proving that right now. Besides too many goalies are hit-and-miss. And Lou was pulled out too many times in games for a goalie who was one game removed from a Cup. That's not good. I like Lou, I am just saying with his NTC, his 5.3 per, and signed to what? 2018... this I admit is a shot in the dark. Point is, the contract is not attractive in today's market unless you were Paul Holmgren from last Summer.
I miss my Moose . Man, it was so much cheaper. I am so poor now. lol
Of course, if he got moved, his NTC would be void... just saying.
No it would not be void. Once a NTC has vested it travels with the contract and remains in effect for the acquiring team..
The only time it does not is when the NTC was included in a contract that covers both RFA and UFA years AND the player is traded before it is effective. In that case the receiving team has an option whether or not to be bound per the CBA Article 11.8.
There is a lot more to Luongo's contract then his cap hit. It is front loaded so eventually he will not cost much. The cap hit will appear higher than the contract which is a benefit to teams near the cap floor. In any world Luongo is earning his contract so any talk about him not earning his contract is conjecture. Maybe some day it will be a bad contract but today is not that day.

My point was that Lack will be where Schneider is now, and Cannata will be in the position that Lack is now, emphasizing our depth.
Luongo's cap hit is not bad at all. I laugh at your comparison to Bryzgalov who hasn't played well at all. Luongo has been our MVP this season and played extremely well since November 1. He is hands down better than Bryzgalov. When you consider what goalies are signing for now, Lu's cap hit will continue to look better and better as the years go on.

Can we sticky the second half of this post and make it required reading?
That sucks for the Wolves, really could have used him. They are a bit depleted and Oreskovich was a very versatile forward there, wing and center, also was playing PK prior to this concussion.
Being that, its his 2nd concussion this year, i can see why they'd be more cautious. And it happened on what appeared to be a routine hit. Oreo is the one who actually goes in for the hit, its a shoulder and arm hit. Both parties collapse to the ground, unable to get up. Oreo walks off on his own, but looks to be dazed and ran into the wall a bit...
Not sure of his future with the Canucks, signs point to him being released.

At this point you just hope he's healthy and even able to play again one day. Hope he doesn't suffer the same fate as Michael Funk...

Horrible comparison. Bryz proves he's a product of a good defensive system (like Smith is proving now). Luongo (besides his first year or 2 in Van) played in a much more wide open system and isn't a product of the system here or in Florida. When Bryz moved to a wide open system in Philly, of course its not shocking that he failed.
As far as Luongo is concern, you're kidding yourself if you think he has no value/low value. Any team outside the playoff that need a goalie can't go wrong with him even with his contract. He can single handedly lift a team from outside the playoff to in (i.e. when he first got to Vancouver). There really isn't any doubt in his regular season game. Plus he was one win away from winning the cup... not many goalies can claim that or leading team Canada to gold.
And how is it not a good cap hit? Luongo is a top 5 goalie and he's 8th in terms of cap hit this year.
Since Bitz, & Reinprect are on the clearday roster, do we not have to wait for the Wolves to be eliminated to use them?
We are allowed 4 call ups after trade deadline and before the Wolves are eliminated from the playoffs. Additionally we are allowed an emergency call up if the roster (not including players on suspension or LTIR) drops below 2 goal tenders, 6 defensemen and 12 forwards.
Currently we have 13 forwards (Weise is the extra guy), 8 defensemen (Alberts and Rome) and 2 goalies. Ebbett, Pinizzoto, Volpatti and Ballard are on LTIR. Ebbett and Ballard can potentially come off the LTIR, but we don't have the roster space or cap space until the playoffs start.
None of our current players are eligible to be sent down as they were all on the NHL roster as of the trade deadline. There was some thought that Gragnani would be assigned to Chicago and then immediately recalled after the trade deadline, however as he is a pending Group VI free agent, he needs to play in the NHL or we could lose him.
Recalling Reinprect before the Wolves season is done would really put the Wolves in tough. They are extremely thin at center with the trade of Nathan Longpre. I would imagine there was an understanding when the Wolves allowed the Canucks to trade Longpre (he was a Chicago property, not a Canucks property) that they wouldn't recall Reinprect until the Chicago season is done.

8th and dropping as more mediocre goalies sign 5mil+ contracts.
Not only that, his $ value is dropping yearly, a perfect fit for a team with an internal budget that need to reach a cap floor.
Lu has big time value and most GM's are thankfully not idiot fans that make snap judgments on players based on a few games.
Not that I'm advocating trading him at all, I'm just saying that moronic fans that claim he has "no" value are WAYout of touch with the realities of the NHL and its cap system.
