I don't know - I don't understand why people need to argue in hyperbole when common sense is all that's needed.

I won't be surprised if the PA comes out against any rule to mandate helmets in warmup, just as I'm sure they will object to no-touch icing, just as they have to (bizarrely) the league reorganization of divisions.

Each of those is another holdback they can use in the upcoming CBA negotiations to win more money. Just as you said.

As cynical as anyone can easily get looking at the NHL BoG and some of the nonsense they've been involved in post-lockout, the NHLPA is still managing to find ways to lose on public perception.

They already did.

The whole "team's discretion for warm-up gear" is in the CBA.

The PA agreed with it in 2005. They were fine with it for 6 years. It's not like they're going to come out now and say it's ridiculous.

So because they said it was okay 5 years ago they don't have to comment when something like this happens? This isn't the only thing that makes me question the PA. Allan Walsh daily complains about how his players are out with concussions. Why haven't the PA and the player agents ever made suggestions to help along with safety? Not sure why it's always up to the league to have answers.

Taylor Hall's New Nickname

After making my prediction on the other nights GDT right after Hall's injury that he would more than likely have a Harry Potter'esque scar given to him by Correy Potter. Pretty ironic no?

So, I now think with the crazy dangerousness of the injury and the inevitable lighting bolt scar, we must now call Hall, The Boy Who Lived.

This thread is classless.
Our franchise almost loses an eye, ends up with 30 zips, and you want to start a thread mocking his situation? Wake up!

Dude, grab a sense of humor. I'm as happy as anyone that Hall wasn't seriously hurt, but people are allowed to try and find humor in bad situations, if not life would seriously suck.

I'm going to merge the thread under the general Hall Injury thread. I don't think this deserves its own thread.

Can't say I don't hate the joke though.

Not sure you're correct here, the injury to Hall was serious and bad but in the end just a big cut on his head; had the injury been a career or life changing event in any fashion I WOULD agree with you...

We are happy he's going to be ok and a tad bit of humor based on a good outcome is not thread ending... just my opinion.

I prefer to call him Taylor "Fastball" Hall since his scar looks like the stitching on a baseball.

Seriously though, I hope he takes a couple weeks off to let it heal properly to lessen the chance that it opens up on him during a game and the possibility of a staph infection or something similar.

This has probably been mentioned before, but those look like some solid stitches. The guy who stitched him up did a very good job. Unfortunately/fortunately for Taylor, he's gonna have a badass scar.

When I was 2 I got 19 stitches after falling out of a shopping cart. My stitches were done by a future plastic surgeon and I have a pretty noticeable scar from it. 19 stitches on the head of a 2 year old is quite substantial apparently...

But when I'm asked about my scar, I usually tell people it's from an impromptu knife fight. That's usually a better story/excuse than falling out of a shopping cart...

Another scar with a story. His sister's cat did it to him when he was a young'un. He's probably got a good knife fight story too though

Certainly hope not. I'd rather him take the time to make sure it heals properly. If there's one place you don't want a laceration to become infected, it's on the top of your head.

No, he was out for the season from the last injury. Don't you remember IATL's report?

Why are we rushing Hall back?

The allstar break is right away and we have no reason at all to bring him in this early.

I'd keep him and Eberle out until after the allstar break just to be safe.

I don't know. I think it's worse when you're young. I have one on my forehead (granted, nowhere near the same size) that was from when I was like 15 and it's hardly noticeable
