What's frustrating is a lot of the goals scored against us are due to defensive breakdowns and clear errors. I can't count how many times not clearing the zone, getting beat by your man, etc. has costed us.
Who knows. It couldn't hurt. I don't really get it when people say you can't use injuries as an excuse, because when your entire first line is out of the lineup, I think that's an excuse. The thing that you can't excuse is lack of effort. It really doesn't matter who is on the ice, if the effort isn't there, you're screwed.
This team routinely gets out willed.
Thats not a question of talent...its a question of heart and desire.
I beginning to ask, has the rebuild for this team changed all that much?
Apart from RNH, Hall and Eberle, we haven't seemed to change much at all.
- Leadership on team is embarrassing
- Defense is terrible
- Coaching is still questionable
- Depth still sucks
- Still missing role players
- Stupidity is prevalent on squad
- Nights where overall team gives questionable effort
- Will to win isn't there
So apart from those 3 guys mentioned before, what exactly did the 'tearing down and rebuilding' net us exactly?

What's the political correct way to say a umm...person of low IQ, these days? Whatever it is, it is nice the Oilers give one an opportunity to play goal for them.
Ha ha, I don't know about that...I've seen some weird stuff.
The goalie skating towards the bench as the puck sits there and the closest player to it is from the opposing team? Honestly I've never seen a play like that.
I figured Dubnyk continued going to the bench because there was a delayed penalty on the Blue Jackets. Once again the Oilers surprise me.
Having the worst team in the NHL impose their will on the Oilers and take the game away.
Just another day in the Heartland of Hockey Failure.
that about sums it up.
the team was destined to fail once I heard about Hall and realized Hemsky is our best forward.
the Oilers had about the right amount of Hemsky type compete.
one thing about the injuries, it really does broadcast the lack of any depth at all on the team.
Mark Spector tweeted it. They just don't have the depth to compete with all these injuries. You're missing your top three forwards, and have to defensemen out. How do you come back from that? All you can do it work hard.
No team would be able to compete with the 3 best forwards out as well as the 2 top defensemen. How would Vancouver do in a situation like that? How about Detroit? San Jose? Chicago? Boston? Washington? We're seeing the affect with Pittsburgh.

Shame that third goal counted...Peckham clearly got wacked in the head by Mackenzie on the play. A split second before putting it into the net...oh well. Thems the breaks. Surprised Sportsnet didn't mention it though.
Yes but that doesn't change your ridiculous comments after the L.A. game.
If they had a bag skate after the LA game you can bet your ass they would've won this one. Instead we see another game where they fall apart in the third, the same thing that almost happened against LA.
Thats not a question of talent...its a question of heart and desire.
And lack of motivation from the coaching staff. There's no excuse for this team to get outworked on most nights and a lot of that falls on coaching.
Coaching and apathetic veterans are the 2 biggest problems with this team even bigger than the deficiencies on D and goaltending IMO.
This team has a major identity crisis which falls squarely on the "leaders" of the team.

perfect post. you're right. other than our three best players, it's the same team from a couple of years ago.
