Weller hasn't played in any games for Clarkson as of yet due to some eligibility issues. There isn't much news about this but it seems it might be something with not filing for NCAA eligibility soon enough, or possibly something to do with academic eligibility (although that is less likely). If he can't play for Clarkson I'm guessing he'll wind up in junior somewhere.
This might need someone with a little more expertise to answer, but can he just jump like that to junior? Can they sign new guys after the start of the season? Furthermore would it burn a year of his eligibility if he did go back to junior? I've liked what I have heard about him so far (especially the LW part), but after growing up with some hockey guys I always hate to see them waste a chance to let their hockey get them some school. Hopefully this can be cleared up.
What he could do is take a year to play in the USHL, that way he wouldn't lose and NCAA eligibility and he would still be playing at a decent level of hockey. I actually think that might be good for him anyhow. I don't think he was drafted by any CHL teams so I'm not sure if or where he could play in the CHL. My guess would be the OHL, and he might be able to enter as a free agent, but that's just a guess.
Here is a link to some of the details about the situation.
