Is this the year Malkin pots 50

Malkin has been on an absolute tear lately. I dont think ive seen him this dominant since they won the cup.

Now do you think he will keep it up and get 50 goals? He has hit 47 before. Itll be tough considering there is just under half the season left. But he does have 7 goals in his last 4 games. And 9 in his last 7. Now he has 24 so far, he no doubt has the ability to get 26 more. But will he?

The scary thing is, he's played only 39 games. He's on pace for 50, if the played the whole season.

Maybe 45, Stamkos will probably be the only one to score 50 this year.

What really blows me away, is that Malkin is doing what he is and I think that he still isn't giving 100%. Nuts.

Sure. I'll go out on a limb and say he gets it this year.

I think not quite. He's already missed 7 games, even if he's perfectly healthy from here on out he'll play just 75 games, and it's hard enough to score 50 when playing 82 games. Also, given Pittsburgh's luck with stars, and the fact that this is his first season back after a major knee injury, I'd say he could easily miss more games. Pittsburgh have 36 regular season games left, Malkin would need 26 more goals to hit 50. Possible, for sure, but the safer money is on him not making it, and ending up with more like 40-something.

I say Stamkos is the only guy who is very likely to hit 50 goals this year. I could see one of Malkin, Kessel or Toews hitting 50, and I think they'll all hit 40. Could see a couple others hit 40 too, guys like Gaborik, Neal, Sharp, Daniel Sedin, Kovy, Ovy, Perry, Vanek, etc. are all "maybes" for me.

I think he hits 100+ points and wins the Art Ross though

He's the playing the best hockey of his career. It's unlikely, but if Stamkos goes on a bit of a cold streak, he could certainly push for the Rocket.

While I'm being a homer, he'll win the Art, Rocket, Hart and Conn Smythe if Sid returns.

He wont get to 50. Malkin has been hot lately and that hot streak will end.

What would give you the impression that he's not giving 100%?

This is my biggest criticism of Malkin and pretty much the reason why I don't think he's the best forward in the league .. because he tends to get lazy from time to time and forget how awesomely skilled he is sometimes for games at a time. Obviously Pens fans think he's the best and I understand that - when it comes to pure hockey skills he might be the most skilled hockey player in the world right now. But IMO he still has some maturing to do as a person and if he can develop any sort of consistency he will be the favorite for the Art Ross year after year.

What gets me is that even when he doesn't play like he cares he can still be dangerous. Reminds me a lot of Alexei Yashin (don't mean this in a bad way!) in his heyday when you'd wonder if he's playing some nights but then would score a ridiculous goal and remind you how good he is.

I dont' think Malkin's knee is 100%. But he's most certainly giving it his all.

Scary to think his skating may improve in the coming months.

He's missed too many games to get 50 IMO.

Then again, his parent's aren't even in town at the games yet. That's when he usually goes on a rampage on the scoring sheet
