..long 11 days of waiting spiced up by playing three Canadian teams, Phoenix, Nashville and Penguins. Boston has the same insane series, so no disadvantage there.
What do you think on final score? Although I am a Ranger, because it is played in Boston, I say 3:2 Bruins. (and would be happy to see it otherwise )
It's gonna be an interesting one. The two teams are basically on par point-wise and L10 performance. It will be a matchup between the league's two best goalies, and most well-balanced teams, but it's the first time they play this season so I really have no prediction. That said - it's the game I'm looking most forward to this season!
Looking back at the past couple seasons in matchups between the two teams the Rangers have been getting the better of it.
2009-10:
Nov. 1 Rangers win 1-0 at MSG
Jan. 4 Rangers win 3-2 at MSG
Jan. 9 Rangers win 3-1 in Boston
Mar. 21 Boston wins 2-1 in Boston
2010-11:
Oct. 23 Rangers win 3-2 in Boston
Nov. 17 Boston wins 3-2 at MSG
Mar. 26 Rangers win 1-0 in Boston
Apr. 4 down 3-0 Rangers come back and win 5-3 at MSG--although I do believe that is the night that Callahan breaks his leg blocking a Zdeno Chara shot towards the end of the game.
Anyway we're 6-2 against them the last two seasons.
I cannot wait for this game. My father in law has gotten a suite for every Ranger-Bruin game at TD Bank for the past 3 years and they are always very close, well played games. This very well may be an Eastern Conference Finals preview.
yes, Marchant will be back from suspension by 21st.. I guess most important goal will be no one gets injured. The media will be overhyping this game (what I am doing as well), but players need to know that at the end of day we still have to play them 3 more times, so doing anything dumb is not worth an injury.
I could see us losing like 2-1, or 4-2 and a lot of people ready to jump off a bridge afterwards, saying how we're not even in the same class with the Bruins, and how we HAVE to make moves at the deadline to better match up with them.
Seems dumb to get hyped up for it yet, what if both teams lose all their games going up to the match? Won't seem as exciting then eh
Yeah! and a chasm could open under the arena and the teams could fall in and there would be NO GAME so why would anybody look forward to it or even buy tickets??
They're the other top team in the conference right now, and its natural to get hyped for seeing our team tested against them.
Lots of hockey before then. The Rangers go to Toronto and Montreal this weekend — two teams that tend to give them fits on the road. And have the Sens and Pens before them.

Good point. I'm honestly more worried about the game against the Habs, then I am about Boston. We play like **** in Montreal.
This is a dnegerous stretch here before we get to Boston. The hype and excitement around the WC is over, yet the season is not even half over. The team has been lauded by everyone in the past couple of weeeks. You just hope complacency does not set in. They beat Fla in OT and were outplayed in Pitt Friday, so there are already some warning signs.
8 games to the All Star break including Boston. I would sign up for 10 points in those games right now.
B's strength is being able to roll four lines, the Rangers can do the same like they did against the Caps earlier this year. Expect some set plays to take advantage of Thomas' poor positioning and how the defense correct for it.
Also don't expect a lot of fighting, if you try to match up the lineups, this involves Boyle fighting Chara, which is terrible for both teams because it involves Chara being off the ice and Boyle fighting. That would be an atrocity.
