Can Montreal ever be successful with all this negativity and pressure from the media?

I'm reading a couple of daily newspapers here and there and it's pathetic. Every loss is amplified tenfold. Wins get a couple of cliff notes. Every time something bad happens, writers talk about "imagine if". Much talk about our rare frenchies when they get a point, nothing by others. When someone gets traded, it's always if it were a good riddance.

It's like if the media is happy when the Habs lose. And got nothing to say once they win. A while ago, there was that Kostitsyns "fiasco". Media aggressively plotted unimaginable stories and were practically visualizing the two Belorussians behind bars. Last week Cammalleri told that his team is going through a losing mentality. Media paraphrased it as Cammalleri insulting the whole franchise.

It's godamn unbearable anymore. Habs could go on a 10 game winning streak and journalist would write "too bad they aren't at 11 yet".

Nope because even if a new GM comes in and doesn't have success in his first season, people will want him booted, like they wanted martin booted after his first season.

Yes. Media is nothing. Incompetence is everything.

Well, go back and read what was said about the Habs in 08 or on their playoff run in 2010. The thing is that the Habs are bad this year, I don't know what they're supposed to say.

As Hab fans, we just don't like being reminded that our team is bad. But I can't say how they could write that this team is doing well.

I think the media is very representative of the fan base. Just look at all the bipolarity around here. After a win it's "I BELIEVE I BELIEVE". After a loss it's "TANK TANK". No middle ground.

Seriously? How many of these players even read the papers, listen to the radio shows or what themselves on tv? This team has no energy, gives no effort and doesn't care enough to bring a real work ethic to the ice and that is on the players, coaches and management not the media!

If the GM comes in and says this is a 5 year plan and doesn't live up to expectations, who is to blame?

If the other GM that comes in says we are a Cup contender and I'm building a team that will be a top 10 one in the league and they are bottome 5 instead what do we do? We keep waiting? Thanks Andy I know your love for Gauthier and management is strong but we ain't the ones saying these things and the media either. Gauthier said Markov would be back in the 1st 2 weeks of October, the media simply told us what HE SAID

Media and fans are overrated. Put the red wings' organization in Montreal and no one will ever talk ****.

The press is negative because we're losing.

We're losing because we go for quick fixes. If we continue to do things this way we will probably continue to be medicore and the negativity will continue.

No top five picks in 25 years (except for a one time lottery) doesn't cut it. Sorry but that's a huge reason why we are where we are. We just flat out need better players.

What a joke to blame the medias. You're actually expecting the medias to report it smells like roses when the habs take a collective dump in the middle of the bell centre nearly every night ? What's their home record now ?

Nothing positive is being reported because there's nothing positive to report. There's about 2-3 players who are playing to expectations on this team (Desharnais and his linemates). No wonder the medias report positive stuff about Desharnais. But even then that's bad because he speaks french so clearly it's the xenophobic medias pushing an agenda. What a joke of a thread. Pathetic really. Wow

JM actually stated yesterday that press conferences are boring because the media doesn't ask the tough questions. And he was 100% right. The toughest question either coach faced this year was when Jessica Rusnak asked about Cole not being on the power play... It would be nice if one of the 100 media guys asked the coach, point blank, "What are you doing to improve the terrible power play that has basically cost you a shot at the playoffs?" Wouldn't that be something one of these people could ask?

This.

It won't make the problems go away (expect the "Habs as a federalist tool" talk to return) but it means no longer being Quebec's team which means the parasites won't be focusing exclusively on us.

Plus another big rivalry breeds ambition.

We need those ******** back.

We need a GM like Burke who knows how to manipulate the media.

I didn't say Burke, just someone who isn't afraid of offending everyone. Basically, an anti-Gauthier.

The Habs will never, not once, win the Cup. It's just not going to happen.
