Not particularly sure why. Our bottom six is jam packed as is.

No longer will we Colorado fans have to put up with Joe Sacco using this man incorrectly on the first or fourth lines!

2nd line winger at best, AHL I think would be better suited to him. Or in a style of play that isn't grinding along the boards.

Waiver claims like crazy this week. Guess this means Minnesota passed as Nashville's further down the priority list.

Yip seems like a pretty decent guy so I'm happy for him, but I don't get this move by the preds at all.

This will be the move that motivates Suter and Weber to sign. They will both be locked up long-term by next week. BOOK IT.

Maybe DP will be trading a current bottom sixer as part of package to land a top six F/four D rental.

Shrewd move. If Yahoo is correct, here's Yip's career numbers against some of the Central's top teams:

vs. St. Louis: 5 goals in 6 games.
vs. Chicago: 3 points in 5 games.
vs. Detroit: 4 points in 6 games.

I have no clue if it has anything to do with Nashville claiming him, but I remember him dominating the Blues at times over the past few seasons.

Yip is a great pick up for the Preds. He's shown that he can be amazing in the slot area. Not a good skater, but for a while he was scoring at an unbelievable pace because he can bury those rebounds. Considering how much offense the Preds generate from the point, you might be surprised by Yip.

actually, that's a big weak spot for us. we generate a TON of rebounds due to the point shots of weber, suter, ellis and josi...but no one ever seems to be able to get a stick on them. Might be a fit.

He'll be reunited with Colin Wilson, maybe that will spark something. He was always a guy I was pulling for.

Bury them... where? He had one good run as a rookie which was a lot of luck (Shooting 17%).

He's not an NHLer. I could see him finding a nitch in the AHL though.

Add me to the list of people that just don't get this move. Yip is ok, nothing special, but I don't see who he replaces in the Preds bottom 6.

Guy had a good rookie year. Certainly has been far from impressive since then but he is still young and there is no great harm in giving him a try-out for the waiver fee. If he ends up sucking, they can waive him down to Milwaukee or have Colorado pick him back up for their AHL squad. Waiver pickups have very little risk so I don't know why people are baffled that they take place.

I don't think many people are baffled that a waiver pick-up occurred. I just can't see where he'd get playing time in NSH. The only person that he would be a clear upgrade on is Smithson and the coaching staff loves Smithson...

I'm talking about his rookie year. That's where he scored his goals. He just gets his shots off so quick. Lately nothing, but he's not really built to play dump and chase because he doesn't skate well. His niche is right in the slot picking up trash.

I can see him doing well in Smashville. Trotz will know how to use himproperly unlike Succo. Hes vertically inclined for all you pred fans who dont know and he cant turn left.

There are enough NASCAR fans in Tenn that can teach him this...

For all those who "just don't get why Nashville did this," he's an impending RFA waiver pickup for less than $1MM in salary. There's almost no possibility of downside from claiming him. Also, Nashville was at 46/50 contracts (I'm assuming Watson and Aronson's contracts slid) so it's not like they're wasting contract space either.
