Joe Finley: Good enough to be a regular?

I don't have access to regular AHL games. Is he good enough to hold down a 6 spot and be physical on a NHL team? I certainly don't have delusions of him ever being a top 4 guy, but as a #6 guy on the 2nd PK unit.

With Weber and Gragnani manning the bottom pairing these days, Joe Finley looks like a regular.

Right now, no.

Btw is he injured? He isn't on our injured-list but he seemed to have a problem with his hand after his fight in the last game he played and hockeydb lists him as neither part of the Sabres nor the Americans roster right now.

Not sure he's ready. There are the bones of a possible bottom pairing d-man there, and he offers an element they don't have anywhere else in the lineup right now. He needs more reps but if they decide to go full rebuild, play him. Work him up here and see where he's at at the end of the year.

If not, send him down and let him continue to improve his game.

Sure, why not experiment at this point and see if he can hack it over a longer period of time. What do they have to lose? And he does, indeed, bring some unique qualities.

At this point, no he's not. I still see some Weber like plays from him in the AHL. The mistakes aren't magnified in the AHL like they are in the NHL.

I wish he would be more physical in front of the net. He's dangerous along the boards, but clear some of that trash out Joe!

On this road trip? Let's not screw with our sparkling record....

I've been fairly quiet lately, but I'm ALL in favor at this point of moving our UFA's + Roy and Stafford for prospects and picks, and letting Kassian, Foligno, Chewie, Finley et al finish out this season up here.

Just be sure to get players back that can round out the Amerks a bit.

No, he isn't good enough to be a regular. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.

I like joe. Would like too see him here personally. Couldnt be any worse than some of the scrubs we've been playing. He can fight, hes huge, and he can take people off the puck.
