so why is this series not avilable on 360? does 360 even have a baseball game?
It's a Sony game, the series has always been PlayStation (and PSP) exclusive.
The 360 has 2k12...that whole series is a joke. Thankfully 2K's exclusive license for third party MLB games ends this season and EA can release another baseball game next year. I've been playing MVP 2005 on the original XBox more than any baseball games made in the current generation because of that (no PS3 and I'm not about to buy one just so I can play a better baseball game).

Went back to try my RTTS character again. I swear drawing a walk is harder and more rewarding than hitting a homerun. I have had more walk offs so far in my season in the minors than I have had walks. It takes away from the experience and I can't sculpt the kind of player I'd like to (the kind with a high on base %).
It is. Adrian Gonzalez in the US, Jose Bautista in Canada.

I have far too little patience to be a hitter. That's why I stick to pitching in RTTS.

I typically stick to pitching as well, but in 09 I made a SS drafted by the Astros and I made it as far as free agency until I sold out and joined the Redsox because I was sick of carryign the team for 6 straight years only to have them fail. I basically automate fielding and just stick to batting. It's a decent diversion from pitching which just always struck me as too easy.

It's easy to cruise through the minors as a pitcher, but I find the jump from AAA to the majors to be pretty big.
My biggest problem with hitting is that I'm just far too impatient. So then I start hacking at terrible pitches and watch my on base #s plummet.

I make it a point to always take the first pitch. My biggest issue is I just can't tell balls from strikes so I am using guess pitch on fastball and low because it can at least keep me from swinging at the pitches in the dirt. One of the biggest problems I have with the pitch recognition is that the pitches just don't appear to break correctly. With the exception of the curve balls the other pitches just seem to go in a straight line and then show a break after the fact.

Exact same strategy here, guess FB-low. When I see that zones light up, I do my best to tag it. I usually wait for anything low where I guess if the location is revealed
The breaks of each pitch are actually correct usually, they are just almost too realistic. It's pretty tough to sit on 95 heat when the pitcher also has an effective slider that starts straight, or a change that dies halfway to home. It's pretty cool, but hard.
My issue is that far too many pitchers are able to throw their off speed stuff for strikes consistently. That's when it goes from cool but hard to hard and frustrating.

I don't see any break from any of the 2 seams, rfb, sinkers, cutters, and whatnot. The pitch just seems to go in a straight line to it's end destination and then the little icon indicates some large break that I never saw. To me that doesnt seem realistic as those pitches do in fact move quite a bit.
I've always wanted to try this game as I love how gorgeous it looks and how realistic it is (yes EA...take notes on this for your NHL series dammit).
But I don't know squat about baseball.

I agree with gooch. Hell, I really learned about all the specifics/intricacies of baseball and football from playing All-Star Baseball 2000 and NFL Quarterback Club 98 on the N64 I had never been interested in getting sports games before then (not even Tecmo Bowl)
The MLB 2k game this year is at least decent. It's been bad for so many years and they finally hit a triple. It's no where near the show in graphics, gameplay, features, etc. It does beat the Show in commentary, stats, and pitching. On the bright side for 360 users, they have a baseball game that is fun (finally), albeit quite a bit more casual than The Show.
Plus, 360 gamers can get a combo deal of NBA 2K12 and MLB 2K12 for $70 on Tuesday.
As for the Show, hitting is going to be a bit easier this year (they slowed down the pitch speed), which should help seeing the pitch. The batting looks decent. It has full move support (which brings no merit to me) and most importantly (to me), it has 2P mode for Franchise (2 players on the same team). Pumped for that.
