1 role player for your team

If you could have one "role player" on your team right now, who would it be? When I say role player, I mean somebody who won't make the all-star teams and will seldom make a highlight reel. That's my definition at least, but just answer the question using your own.

For the Islanders I would say Willie Mitchell. A gutsy competitor, can put up minutes if you need him to, and will stick up for your guys in the crease.

Tomas Holmstom

I still think he's a gutless *****, but he has one single role and he does it damn good.

I don't know if he's still playing but Martin Gelinas was a guy I always liked. Mike Grier is fantastic as long as you don't expect him to score goals.

I guess he's more than a role player now but i've always liked Scott Walker.
As a leaf fan i would like a defenseman,so i'd take Mike Rathje.

Stephane Yelle is the definition of 'role player' for the Flames. The guy has his job and he does it DAMN well.

Mike Peca. I'm not quite sure if he counts since he is a legit number two center, but I love the role that he plays

For the Isles, that "role" player is already on their roster.

A healthy Mike Peca will make a major difference for NYI next season.

Otherwise, Willie Mitchell, as suggested would be sweet.

Scott Walker for sure. The man brings grit, leadership, and points in his package. This is a guy that can play anywhere from the 1st to 4th lines, and still be effective.

Nice!!! Easily my favorite player and cool to see him get some props.

Besides Marian Gaborik, he was probably our most important player in the '03 playoff run.

Holmstrom is great on the power play. Check out his playoff numbers as compared to his regular season numbers. Quite a contrast.

My pick is John Madden. A guy that is fast, can score and can shut down the opposing teams top line.

My second choice is Ethan Moreau. A checker who can get 20 goals and plays a physical game.

My third choice is Ville Nieminen. I hate the guy but he's a skilled agitator. Just imagining a Nieminen-Avery-Tootoo line and how many penalties that line would draw...in a single shift

The Blues need wingers who can do a bit of everything and you said no Stars so I will go with a guy like Mark Bell from the Hawks I think that this kid is very good for this example.

For Florida I would like Brashear...

Hordichuk, Cairns and Brashear? Ouch... Serious case for Goon Sqaud

Seriously though...

I have always admired the job that Tomas Holmstrom does, second choice would be Steve Staios.

Either Steve Begin or Jan Bulis. Maybe even Sundstrom.

Jason Blake from the Islanders. Versatile, speedy, and never ever stops skating.

Before last year I would have added Claude LaPointe...I love that guy. When I think 4th line center, I usually think LaPointe.

I think it was the last game of the season, Pens vs. Caps, Grier completely deked out the Pens goalie. I mean all he had to do was push it toward the net. He hit it off the post I think.

Well we have one, in Sean Avery, but I'd venture out on a limb and say Peca as well.
