The bathroom break I took during the 2nd intermission took more effort than than what the Oilers put into tonights game.

Can someone please hammer a slapshot off of Horcoff's ankle again.

Until we can conjure up some actual NHL defencemen he's an "NHL defenceman" on this team.

Until management can conjure up an NHL team, he's not.

Was anyone else certain that Horcoff would be on for the winning goal? I know I was

The odds are always pretty good considering his horrendous play and the fact that he's on the ice for 20+ minutes a game.

Predictable loss is correct. When is this team going to become predictable in a positive way?

And really dumping on Potter? Is that all you guys can do. I count 3 guys injured, Gilbert,Whitney and Barker. Someone has to eat up those minutes. He should not have to be playing those minutes but he has to so does Peckham and Teubert.

Quit dumping on a guy who shouldn't be playing that much. He was super effective playing bottom 6 minutes and PP time at the start of the year becaue that is what he is being paid to do.

He flubbed a good scoring chance? You mean like Horcoff does about twice a game? Smyth has 7 more goals than hold horcatross, 9 more points than old horcatross, -2 to horcules -17, all the while the horcoffian one gets more ice time and more pp time.

Let's stomp all over smyth and only even mention horcoff when brought up by me or the odd other poster.
Horcoff's inability to finish had Eberle dreaming for a new injury....

Our lineup should be back to normal -- whatever normal means for us -- after the all-star break. RNH, Hall and Eberle all back. They will win games on their own, irrespective of how crappy the rest of the team COUGHHorcoffCOUGH plays.

What the standings look like then -- including how well Columbus is doing in its last few games -- will probably be a strong indicator if we're finishing 30th or 29th.

This is where my head is at right now. He's way out of his element and he's looking terrible in the process. Smitty and to a lesser extent Horcoff are in the same boat. They're being asked to play over their heads and they just can't do it.

Injuries are killing us again, but that should be no surprise. Couple that with players not playing to expectations (Hemsky, Gagner, Belanger) and it's no wonder we're on our way to another top 3 pick.

Listening to Renney and his post game comments, make me laugh a little. How many lessons do the players need to learn? With all the lessons being learned they should be wise way beyond there years. I could probably talk to Eberle or Hall and feel like I am talking to my grandpa with all there wisdom.

And those who applauded were simultaneously tearing strips off those who suggested the signing was yet another indication of a huge problem with management.

When Crosby and Malkin went down, Pittsburgh not only bounced back but excelled. That speaks to excellent roster selection and management.

Meanwhile our team gradually folds up like a card table as the young kids go down one by one.

What the hell are the kids going to do without Horcoff around? Can't you see that without him there is no Eberle or RNH????

Agreed about Pittsburgh 100%, but I can't understand how a guy who is a 6 or 7 dman, who is paid to be a 6 or 7 dman, can be judged an "AHL defenseman" when asked to be a #3 and has trouble.

GreatKeith: Because Horcoff is the ONLY thing you bring up. You never put the blame on any other players. Even when Horcoff made the nice pass to Hall against LA you didn't even give him any credit.

Sure I did, I said it was a nice play and that he used up his creativity for the month was dead on.

Horcoff is a problem with this team, but he's far from the only one.

Agreed but he is the biggest one and the one that gets totally glossed over by the media and many many fans on here. He is here for three more years after this one, he makes way too much coin. He gets killed 5-5 and even though he has scored 1 goal in the last 24 games he continues to get top ice time and top pp time. He is the captain which is the worst thing of all.

He is the biggest single, 'we need to get rid of' on this team and without me bleating about him each game his name would hardly be mentioned among all the other player bashing.

Also Smyth and Horcoff had identical PP time today. So they were equally ineffective on the PP for this game. And Horcoff only had 5 more seconds of icetime today than your buddy Ryan.

We get it, you hate Horcoff. That's fine. I understand. But is it really that hard for you to look at the OTHER members of the team? Smyth's lack of offense lately is hurting the team just as much as anyone else's.

There are many players on the oilers that are bad, lousy and should be turfed. My personal blasting of Horcoff at every turn is because he is the WORST offender on the whole team and people pat him on the head and refuse to take this turkey to task. He is a far bigger problem than smyth, gagner, hemsky and the rest combined because he is the captain, he is almost undradeable and he is here for 3 more years.

Also blame Lowe for the contract. Horcoff would be stupid not to accept that money. But I know you won't anyway.

No sorry that total bs line doesn't wash with me. You signed the friggin deal, you knew what was expected and you have utterly failed in your task. He doesn't even face the music for his garbage play. Great example for the kids on this team. It's alright to lose, it;s alright to get paid and not play to the contract, never take any accountability for your bad play.

If you want to go into a slump get put on that line. They have to switch hemsky and eberle, at least hemsky is used to carting horcoff around like a boat anchor.
