well now, if i have to choose between Playing Halo Reach with my buddies or watching the habs play poorly, the choice isn't hard to make... Habs games used to be on the top of my list but now, it's fallen in 2nd place for sure.
When you pay a ticket for a crappy seat over a 100 $, your beer 10 $, then you have to watch such pitiful performances, no wonder this happens. I don't really blame those people if i look at the ''money'' aspect of it. People are just not getting their money's worth. To me though it's different. I never miss a game, and if i do it's because i'm working. So far iv'e missed 4 games this season and it's been games that are on wednesday's, friday's,etc.. Hypothetically, real fans never stop caring. I don't condone it, i understand why they would though.
Well we can pretty much agree the Habs aren't making the playoffs, Molson will need to profit somewhere else for next year, so ya either the tickets or beer prices go up.
I just got moved from night shifts to evening shifts at work this week. It really pisses me off that I'm gonna be missing a lot of Habs games now, but if there's a season for that to happen I'm glad it's this one. I'm still hoping for some miraculous run to the playoffs until it's mathematically impossible though haha.

Imagine when the Nords are back, the fans will also have an option to turn to. Dark days ahead for our habs. The days of sold out Bell Center will be over soon.

Huh? Nords wont really affect gate revenue based on location and Montreal has a diverse enough television fanbase that they won't be that negatively impacted. Plus, the Nords will have to deal with the same restrictions as the Habs while maintaining a small market team budget.
Also the Bruins winning the Cup last year, really didn't help coming into this season. Expectations were high and we have been nothing but disappointed so far
I still watch the games (less than before though) but Campoli, Gill, Weber, Blunden, Nokelainen, Engqvist... it is such a boring support crew!
I miss a reliable punishing stay at home D like Komisarek (before he got Luciced!), a yapping Lapierre, head first Bégin, Kostopoulos (despite the fact he was the worst fighter in the freakin' league!), 110 mph shot Bergeron, minutes eating Hamrlik...
This team needs passion and an aversion towards defeat and everything that is lukewarm – aka Patrick Roy. Hell to former Ottawa Senators!
PS I still have a little faith in Gauthier: White instead of Pyatt, Bournival, Cole, Emelin, Bourque, Eller, Price instead of Halak...
For the first time ever, I bought a package of tickets to see the Habs. I also bought tix to the New Years Eve game in Florida. I was pretty lucky with some of the games I saw (October wins against Flyers and Boston, plus last Sunday's game against New York), but at this point I have to admit I'm not anticipating the remaining game I have tickets for. Have I stopped caring? No. I've watched the Habs through decades of ups and downs. This season isn't anything new. I've just distanced myself a bit. I don't read the morning stats anymore, I don't follow every article on the team and I won't move mountains to watch every minute of every game anymore. Without the over-arching storyline of a playoff run, I no longer see the 82 games as a unified season, like a novel with a beginning, middle and end; instead, the games have become individual 60-minute short stories. Miss one or two and it changes nothing.
The Habs and I have a life-long marriage, but like any relationship, sometimes it needs a little space. On the plus side, I've had time to discover new activities. Did anyone else know that there's porn on the internet? I'm pretty sure I can remember the site.

Never thought of it that way, but that was a fantastic way of putting it. Add to this season a bit of 'TMZ' flavor and each short story becomes a tad bit more and more annoying.

Hahahahaha! I was expecting you to say something on the lines of curling, but porn? We're in 2012. It's been around for years online.
I just hope this doesn't give the suits the impression that finishing 8th every year is preferable to doing the hard work necessary to build a Stanley Cup champion.

People who would turn to the Nordiques aren't "fans".
Last semester I used to skip classes to watch habs games.
This semester...let's just say I became a good student
no for real though, I didn't stop caring, but if I miss a period or 2 and I come back home to see that we're losing 3-0 (like the washington game) ...ca me derrange pas du tout!

Well, the hard work needed as you put it will take a few years... we're half way trough season ONE of being bad and fans are already fed up with the losing...
and since it cost over half a billion to buy the Habs well...
If there's one thing we can already notice though is that most of those who wish for the habs to tank and rebuild... well, (most, not all) they're full of sh**! took them 45 games to turn their back on the team they pretend to be a fan of!
I guess I'm part of the minority here. I've watched every game so far, plan on watching all the way until game 82 and hopefully more after that. No matter how bad the team plays, I'll always watch. I put up with the dark years in the early 2000s. This is a walk in the park.

It's very understandable, and you are spot on with your comments...when they first moved into the Bell they went through a tough time, and they drew 17-18 thousand, not 21,273 night after night, and the fans use the supply and demand theory at that point.
This is why the Habs, like the Leafs cannot tank, rebuild, re-tool whatever,, but can't tank...you can't charge the fans an insane amount of money and provide mediocre efforts, on and off the ice...
Personally, we don't need to tank, but we do need some tweaking, and there could be a another so called core player leaving ( besides Cammy already )

Nords back? OK, good stuff, don't let the door.......
