Hamilton Update

Take from the Dogs board,

"According to the Hamilton Spectator....

The Bulldogs have lost right winger Antti Miettinen, quite possibly for the season. Miettinen, a Stars prospect, has returned to Dallas for shoulder surgery ...

When the Hamilton Bulldogs open their season Friday in Edmonton, they'll be without Mike Komisarek. They won't have him for Sunday's home opener either. In fact, they won't be seeing the big defenceman in uniform for quite a while.

The top prospect, who spent most of last season with the Montreal Canadiens, was slated to play -- and wanted to play -- for the Bulldogs during the NHL lockout. Recently, however, he was diagnosed with a torn muscle in his left hip, and he will be out of action for at least a month."

Bad news for Komisarek being out a month + but it should give Archer more ice time, with Lambert likely getting more ice time with the lose of Miettinen.

Here's what the lineup could look like on friday for the season opener.

Higgins Plekanec Milroy
Ott Dusablon Kostitsyn
Ivanans Morgan Ferland
Lambert Locke Thinel

Hainsey Jancevski
Daley Cote
Plante Archer

Ellis
Danis

Milroy and Kostitsyn could switch spots. Ivanans and Lambert maybe could switch spots to add more offense if need be.

What the hell is happening with Miettinen, I have him in a FHL league, will he ever be good? I drafted two great busts: Miettinen and Zinovjev. Hopefully I have Fleischmann and Pitkanen.

Well this is the 2nd time in 2 years he's had a shoulder injury. Last year, he only missed a few weeks...looks to be more serious this time. If he stays healthy, he'll be a good one.

Actually this is his third time in 3 years. The shoulder was operated 1st time in 2002 after the season. Unfortunately, 100% recovery seems to be impossible.

Kind of surprised to see Milroy playing on the #1 line instead of Kostitsyn

Many teams use the 1st / 2nd lines interchangeably. If one line performs better, they get more icetime and more PP time. I'm also guessing they wanted to spread some of the scoring across two lines rather than have it all focused in one line and allow the opposition to use a strong checking line against them.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see how Kostitsyn performs this year. If any of you are at the games, please make sure to give full reports.

I'm mostly interested in some feedback on:

Chris Higgins
Anrei Kostitsyn
Ron Hainsey
Cory Urquhart
Corey Locke

I'm really interested in Ferland's progress i have a feeling he might become something intersting, I REALLY like the combination of size and style, seem like a combo who cant miss the NHL. Probably could become a kind of Begin but bigger and more talented.

still waiting to get some reports about him.

Miettenen's misfortune equals more quality playing time for Kostitsyn, Milroy and Ferland. All is good.

Ferland doesn't have Begin's speed so he lacks breakaway speed( especially on the PK ) and open-ice hitting ability. Ferland's play is similar to Jason Ward.
