Who Gets Further? Flyers or Sixers?

I'm loving the Sixers success and the fact that we can ask this question this year. Who goes further in the playoffs?

I hope Flyers but unless Bryz comes around, I don't like our chances of getting out of the second round. If Bryz continues to suck it up, I think it's totally conceivable that the Sixers are more successful.

Given all the changes, if the Flyers get back to the 2nd round (assuming they win a game in the 2nd round, surpassing last year's team), it should be seen as a great success despite whatever flavor of kool-aid the rest of the city gave you. Generally, a team that ices roughly 1/3 of their roster as rookies on a given night, without an experiences defensive center, shouldn't even sniff the playoffs.

I wish that were the case with us. If you can't win it all in a given year, then I'd rather just be out of it with a high draft pick. I think Couturier is the perfect testament to what a high draft pick can do for your team.

This team has no chance in the playoffs and we're going to end up w/ a low pick to boot.

wouldn't be surprised if we qualified as the 6th or 7th seed and lost in the first round to either the rags or the Bs again.

this team just isn't ready, and with guys like Timonen and Jagr playing such large roles and leading the way, im fearful for the future if we don't do something to fix the D and if Voracek and JVR don't develop into the players we're banking on them becoming.

for the future, we need one number 1 top pairing franchise type defenseman, one young (probably drafted in the first round) blue chip defense prospect who can become a good #2 guy, and a bonafide top line winger, because unfortunately at this point i don't see JVR or Voracek becoming bonafide 1st line wingers.

i'd like to see them make a run at Ryan Suter this offseason, and maybe move some pieces around for Bobby Ryan, but that would most likely include not resigning Jagr, Pronger not coming back, and moving one or two core pieces.
