The AHL conducted a conference call yesterday to decide if they were going to expand the Game Day Rosters to 20-players. If they don't expand them and remain at 19-players (17-skaters) the dynamics change a bit. In the past, the Monarchs have dressed 11-forwards and 6-defensemen...We won't know if it's 4-full lines or not until later today or tomorrow...

Steckel and Geisler are rumored to be headed to Reading...

Brown is probably more likely to play on the left side for now...

I expect to see Nolan in the line-up befor Milam

Gleason and Grebs won't likely be paired together...I think Weaver with Gleason is more likely...

Giuliano is a little better defensively than Welch so he might stick in Manchester...

Anyone else know why Milam is also listed on the Rampage website? He was on there as part of their roster for this year when I checked yesterday....

He did play 13-games for the Rampage last year. He was signed by the Monarchs to a one year deal in September of this year...If my memory serves me correctly, early this summer, the Kings instructed Reading to acquire his rights...

edit: 08-12-04 --Reading Royals acquired the rights to defenseman Troy Milam
from the Gwinnett Gladiators for financial considerations. ...

Sully was already signed in Reading, so all three are heading there...

Why is Lehoux ahead of Camms?

For opening night, my guess is something like this:

Brown - Cammalleri - Smyth
Clarke - Lehoux - Kostopoulos
Kanko - Ryan - Hogeboom

Flinn
Schmidt

Gleason - Milam
Grebeshkov - Rullier
Nolan - Weaver

Garon
Hauser

You think Joe will be ready for the ice one week after that Gawd-awful impact into the bench door-jamb? I bet that's one helluva bruise.

I'm being optimistic Reggie, if no Joe, then I expect Peters which would likely give the Monarchs Weaver, Milam and Peters on the right side...I think they need to add some experienced depth on the right side sooner rather than later...All of a sudden, I really miss Zizka...

Not for a while, from today's Union Leader:

The Monarchs roster now sports two goalies, Mathieu Garon and Adam Hauser, six defensemen and 16 forwards. That roster of 26 players will likely remain for the early part of the season since forwards Scott Barney and George Parros are injured. There is no timetable for Barney's return from a groin injury and Parros is skating and practicing after sustaining a high ankle sprain on Sept. 13 in Los Angeles.

Note: there are actually 8 defensemen on the Roster, we just haven't been told if Nolan and Peters have signed...there are 26 players on the roster. The author has never been very good at math...
