Dude you guys are paying Bieksa 7 mil this year

3.5 mil for Beauchemin is a steal

Bob must've threatened him with a barstool to sign at that cost.

Good job!

Congrats ducks good signing. I would have liked to have him for the stretch run this year but as long as he isn't going to a competitor(this year) its all good

Lots of people tend to forget that Kevin Bieksa is a core member of the team, a leader of the defensive group and a life long Canuck.
He's also only paid 7 million dollars, his cap hit is 4.6 million. Which falls under the Top 4 dmen catagory, and Bieksa also plays 1st pair shut down group.

That's kind of like me saying its ludacris that you spend over 5 million cap hit for Lubomir Vishnovsky. Even though he doesn't get paid the full cap hit amount after this season.

To get back on topic. Beauch could have easily garnered more than even Kevin Bieksa's cap hit.
Obviously loves where he is, and is doing well. That's a match for heaven when you're looking for a new contract in the NHL.

So it's great to actually see a player walk the walk instead of always spewing garbage to media on how they would love to stay and blah blah.
Why Murray let him go to begin with only to pay a big price for him i'll never know.

It was a mistake that many Duck fans hated. Murray just thought Sbisa was much further along in his development then he was at the time.

Beauchemin and Bieksa have similar roles on their respective teams and skillset.....but Bieksa gets paid over 1 mil more cap hit wise and you think we overpayed? wow

Nice signing for the Ducks. When you see guys like Gorges at 3.9 and Ballard at 4.5 this is a steal for the Ducks.

This is a steal. Never thought he'd sign anything below 4M.

Simple. Bieksa is a 40pts dman, and Beauchemin is a 30pts dman. They play similar role, but Bieksa offers more offence. But yes, Beauchemin is not overpaid. He could have got 500K-1M more.

Great signing by the Ducks, think it shows they are not looking to rebuild just retool.

In Anaheim market you can't basically never be in total rebuild mode...retooling is the key.

I honestly think it's a fair deal. He would have gotten 4m/per on the open market.
