Beauchemin extension means Visnovsky in play?

From his twitter feed:

Quote:
My take is that Beauchemin's extension with the Ducks further raises possibility that Visnovsky could be in play come the trade deadline
What could the Ducks get for him? He has another year after this one at $5.6mil

A lot. He is an elite PMD. And he only makes 3 million next season. Any cheap owners out there?

Devils are willing to pay a good price for him.

Yeah, but his actual salary is just 3 millions and that's too good contract for a top 4 defender for the Ducks to give away.

With the pay Lubo is making next year, the Ducks can not afford to trade him.

Unless they are getting a 2nd line center.

I don't see why you move Lubo, not like they are stacked on the backend.

I just tweeted LeBrun about what the Devils would have to give to acquire him, but obviously he wouldn't answer that.

Tallinder (regardless of injury)
Palmieri
2nd

I'm not too good at trade proposals

Not enough quality, either we sell him for a 1st and a good prospect. Or deal him to fill our 2nd line center hole.

How about Zubrus? He is one of the hardest working players on our team and is the kind of player every team would love. He can play center for your 2nd line and has another year on his contract. He has so much chemistry with Elias and Sykora, but I'd easily give him up to get Vis.

I don't see what he would bring over a resigned Koivu.

And Anaheim would easily hang up the phone on a deal that would make absolutely zero sense for them to make.

The Bruins or Penguins, maybe? Is Letang still out?

He should be, he would command a hefty return of futures without disrupting the core

I am guessing he would return at least what Kaberle got last year with the 1st + solid prospect (and maybe even a conditional based on how the acquiring team does)

Ducks resign their best defensive defenseman, this means that their Powerplay QB is available?

I've seen better speculation from Eklund.

If he's available the Devils should be all over it.

Vishnovsky is a bargain at $3M. He fits their budget. Why trade him?

With his actual 3 million dollar pay for next year it would have to be a significant overpayment. I think they could actually get that considering what Visnovsky is, so it is possible. But I think that was true before Beauchemin resigned.

Tedenby/Josefson/Merril + 1st 2012 seemed to get interest from both sides last time I proposed it.

This is stupid. Why would it make Visnovsky available? They play completely different roles. If anything this means Lydman is gone.

Remember we gave up Kunitz/Tangradi for Whitney which was then turned to Visnovsky. If we don't get some kind of similar return to what we paid for it, I don't see a deal happening.
