We hate the Ottawa Senators

And they hate us right back, at least according to this blog: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Travi...-III/134/44898

Quote:
The latest example of such? An amusing war of words between the Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators front offices right near the trade deadline on February 27th -- one that was started as the direct result of a Winnipeg Jets action, and exacerbated by the Ottawa Senators going absolutely ballistic in response.
Supposedly the Jets and Sens were close to a deal, but it fell apart at the 11th hour. As a result, each side was not pleased with the other. The author speculates that it was either due to the player we almost traded being injured or because we turned around and traded the player to another team (suggesting it was Oduya).

That's an interesting story. I can't see the Senators being that upset if they thought they had a deal for Oduya and the Jets flipped him to Chicago. By all accounts the deal to Chicago was done at the last minute, so I don't know what the Sens would have been waiting for. Waiting to the last second to force the Jets to take their offer?

As for trading for an injured guy, as the article says, at that time our injured guys were Bogosian and Fehr. What kind of information could we have been withholding? It seems very implausible that we would hold back the specifics of an injury, knowing full well that once a player went to Ottawa that he would most likely get a physical anyway. What would the Jets have to gain by saying Fehr's injury wasn't shoulder related if it indeed was?

Quote from the article:

"Could the story be entirely contrived? It's possible. Actually, it's borderline-likely. "

It would be interesting to know the truth though.

BOO HOO!!!!! If the senators really wanted Oduya as is being speculated, maybe they should have stepped up to the plate with a more legit offer instead of playing possum and hoping Chevy would cave and accept their offer.

If Chicago's offer was better, it was Chevy's right to take it. If anything, Bryan Murray should be upset at Chicago for swooping in at the last minute.

Here I thought this was in relation to Pavelec winning TSN's Play of the Year.

Dustin Byfuglien was also injured at the time (but playing)

You're right, the article mentioned it but kind of glossed over it.

I could actually see Buff making more sense than Bogo and Fehr.

Our GM could beat up their GM.

My guess is Buff was the target.
Details on what the disagreement was are sketchy at best. All speculation. So any of there was a 'paperwork' issue at the league office (didn't get it in on time), or medical concerns or legal concerns or Jets just changed their minds. Either way, doesn't concern me that the Sens may be upset. Bryan Murray has had his moments too.

Chevy don't need to be careful.

Agreement isn't final until you sign on the dotted line (and the NHL approves it).

Yaaay we finally hate another team this is so exciting

But the Sens? I don't know. I'd prefer the Leafs.

I don't really get how this is a big deal and even worth such an article.

The way we feel about the Leafs hasn't changed. It's the same as it was before we got the team back. It's not thread-worthy to talk about how we feel about the Leafs

Damn, and here I thought the Antropov + Hainsey for Spezza + Foligno deal would have been finalized!!!

In all honesty, the only teams I HATE are the Flames (carrying over from when I was a Canucks fan), Coyotes, Capitals, Philly and Bruins.

They were my team after the Jets left and I moved east. Easily my second team right now, and I got nothin but love for them and their fans.. That is, until they play the Jets..

Me to. Became a Sens fan after the Jets left. Still have a soft spot for Chris Neil though but when they are playing each other its Jets all day everyday.

So, everyone must now hate the sens because a deal fell through?

Also, I haven;t seen much real hate from the sens fanbase (which I'm not part of, ignore the avatar)

I don't think anyone hates the Sens here really. Leafs, don't go there.

I think according to the article it looks like the Sens hate us.

Or, more accurately it wouldn't be the fans of either team, but more like Murray is not happy with Chevldayoff.
