Scoring title will need ___ points?

What is everyone's prediction for the amount of points someone will have that will eventually win the league scoring title?

Kind of hard to compare to previous years, perhaps, for at least a couple reasons:

(1) the players tearing it up won't be recalled to the NHL (assuming no settlement)

(2) improved quality of player, in general, in the league, and whatever effect that has (on all positions, F, D and G)

03/4 winner: Rosa, 88 pts
02/3 winner: Maltais, 86 pts
01/2 winner: MacLean, 87 pts
00/1 winner: Armstrong, 101 pts
99/00 winner: Matte, 104 pts

I think there's a decent chance that someone who should be in the NHL might have a crazy good season, but since I want to hedge that bet, I'll say the winner ends up at 124 pts.

Who that will be????

If I had to guess, Spezza, but what a crapshoot!!!

Whatever Vanek scores

Nah, I actually wouldnt be surprised to see the point totals either stay about where they are, or drop a bit. Yah, offensive players might be better due to the lockout and signings, but so are defensmen and goalies.

I think you'll also see better defensive schemes implemented to keep the top players in check... Its like a mini-NHL

Ill say ~90 points.

The Admirals had the most potent offense in the league by far last year, and with the additions defensively to the club - Hamhuis is back, Suter and Klein were signed....The coaching staff says they will be even more offensive. I'm not sure if anyone is the caliber player to lead the league in scoring....certainly not a favorite over Spezza. However, Milwaukee has some extremely talented players that will put up a lot of points under Claude Noel. Expect big numbers out of Upshall, Shishkanov, Gamache, and heck...maybe even Jordin Tootoo this year.

I think Jason Spezza is going to put up some big numbers and I believe he will win the scoring title, another guy to put up big numbers will be Matt Stajan. Kind of homer on this

Well then you can say the same of Jason King who had a similar night as Lupul. King looked very dominant.

Spezza would be a dissapointment if he doesnt win and get at least 95. I'll say you'll need that at least to win.

A homer vote, yet realistic is Balej. He was over a point per game player last season (62 points in 60) and is booming in the preseason (5 points in 2 games). If he plays 80 games he will get at least 90 IMHO.

Spezza, Derek Roy and Hrkac would be my top 3 guys.

I'd say somewhere around 95 Points.

Hmm on the Bulldogs side, I'd say Higgins has a decent shot, but yes it will be Spezza after all.

My guess is it'll be up over last season. There are a lot of young players in the AHL this year so the defense probably won't be as strong.

Considering how talented alot of these guys are, and how they will probably spend the entire season in the AHL.. I can see more then a handful breaking the 100 point barrier.

But their competition is better than your normal AHL competition as well.

I would guess it would be on of the kids from Ottawa or LA, Spezza or Vermette, and the Kings have a ton of kids playing for the Monarchs.

with the added firepower this year in the AHL...it wouldn't surprise me in the least that someone goes over 110 points.

I hope it's Spezza...but that's my homer pick.
