Preds interested in Blake and Ruutu

Quote:
*Jason Blake looks to be headed out of Anaheim and I hear the Preds are in pursuit. The Preds are definitely buyers this year and they also are considering Tuomo Ruutu.
That is the quote from Ek. What say you? Is it better to go after Hemsky or one of these guys? I guess Ruutu would be alright.

I hope it isn't true. Blake is our good-luck gnome.

Either is better then hemsky IMO. Blake w I'll be half the price and play twice the games while putting up more points. I think Ruutu would be a great fit

Yeah the consensus among the Preds fans is that Ruutu would be a great fit. But out of nowhere, Blake is lighting it up.

I think Carolina should keep Ruutu. He is young enough that when the Canes can compete in 2-3 years he will still an effective player.

Ok so what would Carolina realistically be looking for in Ruutu or Anaheim for Blake?

I think I read that the Canes were looking for a 1st and a prospect for Ruutu. I have no idea what Blake would cost, but I'm guessing pretty standard rental prices if he's available.

Well, if Eklund says so, I guess Poile must be looking at other forwards pretty hard.

thank you. i'm not sure what either would go for really so i'll keep my mouth shut. but definitely don't want to overpay for either. i would rather have blake though. it did come from eklund so i don't really invest too much in what he says at all.

Blake won't go anywhere right now. Ducks won't start selling unless they lose a few in a row. I think Murray wants to see how far this streak can take them.

Are Preds working on a different deadline than 27th February?

It's been suggested that Suter wants to be convinced of the teams commitment to winning to stay. And adding players before trade deadline would do that. But if Suter is doing to walk, it would make sense to trade Suter at deadline.

Adding better forwards sooner rather than later would make sense in this situation.

I really feel bad for them. neither are game breaking forwards which is what they need and i don't know if they will be able to get that before a decision has to be made on suter/weber. Though if i were them and Ana was going in a rebuild i would be throwing the house at them to get 2 of Perry/ryan/getzlaf

i could actually very well see both happening
and think theyd both fit.
blake would need to come at a very reasonable price though, imo

Is it wierd that I really dont want to move Blake for probably the 5th round pick that his value is?

Dude works harder than anyone on the team, and is clearly a positive influence on the Ducks, Id rather keep him, and bring him back in a 3rd line role.

Looks like the Preds want to be buyers this deadline.

Lots of the rumours are concerning them.

Maybe Murray sees this season realistically. Maybe Blake doesn't want to piss away another shot at the cup, and Murray's going to give him a playoff vacation and re-sign him, ala Recchi in '06.

how much value does blake have?

a few years ago he had negative value in Toronto, has he reestablished himself since then?

Would Mcgratten be available from the Canucks point of view or is he not on the block. And what would it cost?

I'd like to see him re-up with the Ducks, at a lower cap hit. With all the stars on that team, Blake's influence, oddly enough, seems to be one that is sorely missed when he's out of the lineup.

I wouldn't mind seeing either on the Preds, but have a feeling Ruutu will be too pricey for what he'd bring.
