Sorry but it's not luck. It's the Marty Brodeur factor.
Doesn't matter if Marty plays well or not....The Opposing goalie sees a Future HOF'er and he's like "Let me show Marty that I can be Elite, too" or something like that. Extra Motivation goes a long way.
Yeah man, agreed. That's why I think we fair better to play Hedberg against the Rags. Lundqvist pulled himself the last game we did that. I don't think anyone uses Broduer to psych himself up to win more than that guy.
For those of you who read my frantic message before, the whole situation worked out fine. They were actually able to scan my pdfs off of my phone. The ticket lady was shocked!
Im surprised this hasn't become a thing.
I missed it but I'm guessing you left the ticket home.
The problem is that at the defense position, you can't really hide a player. Defensemen get significant ice time. If he is a liability at ES and isn't worthwhile on the PK, I'm not sure the PP specialist role works. Even 12-13 minutes gets you scored on.
Not if you carry 7 defencemen. Our fourth line has been useless anyway, so why not scratch one of the scrubs? It's something to think about until Greene returns, at which point Foster should be exiled to somewhere other than NJ.

They only gave up 20 shots. The defense is not that bad. Let's review the goals:
#1: Foster misplay, Volch turnover, Simmonds win, Simmonds pass, No coverage on Read, excellent shot
#2: To quote Chico "I'm sure there's Devils fans that wonder why the Devils can't do that". Good screen, good shot
#3: Hartnell strolls by two players, one of whom (Zubie) sees him too late, excellent shot
#1 is clearly a defensive deficiency. Otherwise, (a) crap happens and (b) Zubie lost coverage. Also, in all cases, the Flyers's execution was perfect. Finally, Coutourier, Simmonds and Read outworked their counterparts on the bottom six for the most part. I still can't believe Philthy got Sean Coutourier...smh.

what bothers me about these two last losses is our top guys were no-shows, and when we play top teams, our top guys need to show TFU
Not only does the team need playoff experience (one of our best players has only nine games under his belt), but it also needs money. Even if it's only two home games, it's something.
If we get to 6th, and play the SE division winner, I think we'll get to the 2nd round. Right now, I just want to get in.
Wouldn't mind having Zajac and Greene back. With that said, at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if we had two or three 80 point players by the end of the season. I don't really expect a 90 point Parise with the way he's been playing. Not that he's an issue.

That's the ideal situation, I guess. But right now I'm happy to make the playoffs at all. Still on the bubble, and there's plenty of work to be done to solidify our spot.
