Meh, can't say I'm a fan of that idea. Wait until they're in their mid-30's and can really appreciate what they did and bring most of the old teammates back for the honors.
thats what i said to them, why not wait till they are between 25-28 like London did with Perry and Nash it would mean more to them and to the fans

I tend to agree with that to an extent. It's important to honor or retire numbers to show off the history of the organization. I don't think it's good to wait 30-35 years to do it because it loses it's luster but if you wait 10 years or so that would be nice. I am also not big on the idea of retiring Hall or Ellis before some of the other guys like say for instance Jovanovski or Ott. Jovanovski is quite obvious why but while Ott never had a lot of team success 1 Western Final his accomplishments in 3 years were tremendous a 50 goal and 43 goal season. Nobody has achieved a 50 goal season since with the Spitfires. If you retire Hall and Ellis you can start a cycle of not honoring the players before them.
Well lets just say on Thursday that BB knows how everyone felt playing against Windsor for 2 straight years as one of the top teams in the OHL.
Dekort in my mind play pretty well for a 16 year old in what might be his only game action this season as Cully only got 2 games but if he would of gotten 3 my guess is Dekort would of started Saturday, Looked like he had alot more confidence then at camp and covered most of the net well with good angle judgement. The 2 goals he let in were high glove both by Griffith who as a very quick shot. Would like to see him play in 2-3 more games before seasons end
Studnika and McNaughton look like they have a good shot at making the team next season, Studnika played really well his last 2-3 games as BB was able to give him some ice time witch will help him in the Off-season while McNaugton has looked good sence game one with the big club.
Ebert well lets just say when your skating up the middle and have a guy open on the wing who has speed you dont walk in just to take a sot from 50 feet out, but i like the fact he is skating with the puck up ice alot more now then say 2-3 months ago.
Pavelka needs to start playing better and not give up a soft goal every game.
At this point of the season we need wins against teams or at least get a point against a team like London or Plymouth as Saginaw and Guelph have picked up their play of late and it wont matter as i still believe come game 68 in SSM we will be tied in points with them and the winner will make the playoffs while the loser will get a top 4 pick in the OHL draft and also a top 15 pick in the Import draft.
Pretty much agree with everything written, good insight
I still would give DeKort the start on Sunday at Missy
As for Pavelka he definitely needs to be much more consistent if he any intentions

I am hearing that Jovanoski will be the next player to have number retired

of being the no 1 guy
if Dekort were to play on Sunday that would be 2 games within in 1.5 days as Lasalle plays Sarina tonight Unless they call them up and say they want him to start Sunday as he is there #1 down there

I would rather see Matt Anthony over Cullen or Pavelka right now.
Thought I had heard he was released and had tried out for somebody in the Q
I dont know why he would be released over a family issue that came up a week before camp, i thought he played very good at the prospect camp and main camp after he was drafted
Ref had it out for Bilcke all night. Two questionable calls seemingly the only time Ty was on the ice and then gave him a misconduct at the end of the game. It was rather unfortunate that Bilcke coming off his best game as a Spitfire wasn't allowed to be in the game by the referee.
was happy to see Devlin, Marchese back and was happy to see Bowen get 4 shifts even if one of them was just so he could fight. Pavelka make some good saves while alot of the shots were taken by Erie hit im in the Chest.
lets hope Johnson can pick up a few more Goals by seasons send. i think he can get to 20 and the line of Marchese, Vail and Johnson was good tonight each had a goal.
Bateman just keeps getting better each game, Thought this was his best game of late just needed a bit of confidence and he got it from the Under 17.
We have a pretty good core but im not that sold on them yet. For stretches this season Vail, Clarke, Johnson, Czinder, McQueen, Marchese go with out having a point and im fine with that as long as we get the 2 pnts and they do the little things right in the D-zone. I think this team needs a top 6 and top 9 forwards. Trade Czinder when you can so are top 10 pick can get ice time, Go after a back up who can help mentor Dekort next season, Trade Pavelka for picks or a player so we can use are top 15-20 import pick on a good forward
I'd love to know what the conversation was between the official and Bilcke at the end. Bilcke skates up to the Otter, smiles, maybe says something to him (he looked at him, but tough to tell if he was talking), and then the official skates over and tosses him. Really? I'm not saying Ty was or was not right, but I don't think there's much question that enforcers (Greenop, Bilcke, etc) around here are put under a different light than others. Bilcke gets pushed, so he pushes back, earlier in the game, and gets two for roughing? Let the kid defend himself and play the game.
As for the rest of the game...
Just the play Pavelka needed. He was strong on the puck, strong with his rebounds, and didn't get phased. Props to the kid for a much needed win.
Johnson, Rychel, Vail, and Marchese are going to be a dynamic four-some over the next few years.
Clarke has some of the oddest skating I've seen in a long time. Once he gets going, he's fine, but the first couple of strides are slower than Czinder.

It's been amazing that the Spits have been able to stay in the playoff race with a full line's worth of players (Czinder, Johnson, Clarke) just disappearing from the score sheet since Christmas. I know they've contributed outside scoring but still hard not to see how little they've done statistically.
Here's to hoping Johnson is getting his second wind and ready to go around the rookie wall. You'd have to assume he's played far more hockey than he ever has in a season much less better competition. It was nice to see him drive towards the net and his goal was effort in making himself open. I'm thinking he'll make conditioning a huge part of his off-season.
Speaking of conditioning, it will be interesting to see how hard Marchese works over the off-season. When he's motivated, he's the poster child power forward type. Yet most of the time since landing in Windsor he looks gassed although it can be mistaken for lazy. I think with the likelihood of being a low NHL draft pick, he'll have a chip on his shoulder and will be more consistent with being "on" next year.
I have to agree completely that Bateman has really rounded out his game. It's been a while since we've some of his mad dashes up the ice. I think we are seeing his confidence gained in his defensive zone play and the one or two rushes we saw this game are probably the beginning. I think he'll be more of a wild man as the defensive confidence grows.

I was beginning to wonder if Boughner and/or Rychel had grudges from their playing days. Before the Cups, you'd have to say that Jovo maybe had one of the most distinguished NHL resumes in modern Spitfire history. This would be an honour well deserved.
Marchese better stay in Windsor over the summer. Hell, any player who doesn't stay in Windsor I'd look to move - unless they come back in equal or better shape than the boys who stay here are in come the camps.
Jack Campbell did his own thing last year, but he put in the work. Ebert stayed in Jersey and didn't seem to put in the necessary work.

yeah but Campbell did come back to windsor at least 2 times a week for yoga and after a month had check up dates to see if he was following his program
