Due to the riduculous ALL Star "week" --was able to catch up with the OHL games last night, and jumped between listening to the Sarnia and Windsor games.
As I cant get the Spitfires commentry I was treated to Londons coverage, and must say, they were very very favourable in reviewing the Spitfires effort...
Sounded a fantastic game--but gosh that SHG sounded a "killer".

The on-ice/lockerroom leadership vacuum is a big issue - we took a big hit when Kenny Ryan didn't come back. In Jr hockey I don't think non-NHL players will be accepted as leaders all that much. If you have a bunch of 16-17 yr olds who still have NHL dreams they're not going to really follow a Robertson or a MacQueen. They want to imulate somebody who has been drafted high and who has a good shot at playing in the NHL. Kassian hurt us in this way last year because he had his clique who basically looked up to him and took on his characteristics in how he prepared for games and his work ethic off ice etc.

The natural leader seems to be Kerby Rychel, but he runs into the issue of being the owners son, and as a result any real or perceived special treatment he gets from the coaching staff is seen as favoritism and that breeds resentment.

Next years OA's are looking like Braithwaite, Posa and Czinder - again three players who didn't even get a sniff from NHL teams.

I'm not sure Posa won't get a sniff from someone. He's the type of d-man you might want in today's pro game - reliable, smart, and effective off the ice. He's not going to be put up huge numbers or lay everyone out, but he has the brains to succeed at the next level.

when you play the position, you tend to know a thing or two about it. Figuring I used to sit behind you I would have figured you already knew who I was.

Hope they work with Pavelka on his breakaway/shootout tendencies. On both shootout shots against Saginaw he got caught biting on the first move and was not able to recover. The reason why he did well on that penalty shot is that he didn't fall for the deke and stayed with Saad the whole time and was in great position to close the 5-hole. Against London, he really over played Domi which gave him the whole net to shoot at.

I'm sure he'll learn from these last 2 games. He did play very well and made some key saves, but the little things will sink ya.

Ya I figured I knew who you were but I didn't want to speculate. I was at the London game and that 4th goal was brutal. Also "rumour" I was sitting behind the Windsor bench in London and it looked like McCann was heavily favouring his knee. Also from what the coaches actions suggest Bateman had the best game for D he was the only player in bench that wasn't yelled at by coachesand he was given more than one "good job" gesture from Jones.

Jim Parker reported it was a knee on knee collision...but I didn't pick it up on the telecast.

Bateman has been quietly improving every game. I'm sure the offense will come in time when he gets a bit bigger.

You're worried about kids seeing the "finger" more than the gross intolerance you're showing here?

You just judged and labelled an entire section of an arena based on where their seats are -- you are a true role model for children .

BTW, the real idiots in 103 sit near you (if it's true you're the one that wears that hat every game) -- when is the last time you confronted them when they got out of hand in front of the kids? Or are you only a hero on message boards.

The little old lady and her husband that sit behind me don't fit your blanket label, and neither do I

Hell, you are even giving demeaning nicknames to people -- hypocrite.

Do you wear this hat anywhere outside of Spits games? Have you actually been to Venice? (Venetian in Vegas doesn't count)

Do I need to be an MMA fighter to wear a Tap Out shirt? Kind of a silly statement...

Do I need to be a moron to sit in 103? Equally silly statement.

I officially give up on further continuing this back and forth. If you'd like to continue this conversation in person, I'm not a hard guy to find

I've been to one...it's quite the atmosphere. Even if you don't participate in the tossing, it's rather amusing.

Well with a Guelph win Tonight over Owen Sound they te Us and Saginaw in points with 47 but jump into 6th witch drops us to 8th place, Guelph has a chance to pull 2 pnts ahead of us with a game Tmr against Kitchener witch will leave them 3 games in hand while Saginaw lost tonight against london they still have a game in hand. We play Saginaw the 2nd last game of the season and do not play Guelph any more this season, Guelph was 3-1 this season against us with 6-3 and 6-0 wins in Windsor and a 4-1 home win against us while we are 1-2-1 in 4 of 6 games

Just wanted to make one comment about 103. I sit half-way up and there's not a single issue up there. The elderly lady behind me yells "Do it again!" after every goal (her and her husband are some of the nicest ppl I've ever met at a game), plus I have a really stand-up guy next to me who I know is known in the business community. There's almost no trash talking from people above me and, while I know there's stuff said below us, 90% of it we can't hear.

As for the "dwarf tossing"...I don't know much about it, but I'm told the guy involved actually likes it.

Yeah, I went to the dwarf tossing several years ago. My buddy got up and threw Tripod the length of the stage, then bought the little guy a lap dance. It was a lot of fun. I don't think I'll go this time, already crossed off the bucket list I guess.

I think its funny how people wanted so badly to jettison veterans for the purpose of the rebuild and now are lamenting the lack of leadership. This board see saws more than any I've ever read, you can't have it both ways arm chair GM's.

"You" armchair GM's? We all are armchair GM's, that's what these forums are. If opinions make us armchair GM's then fine. However, don't come off with your "I told ya so" attitude, as your an armchair GM just like we all are who enjoy this league and its boards.

This team needs to find forwards in the draft. It wouldn't bother me if they went 80-85% forwards in this draft. Vail, Rychel, Khoklachev have combined 63 of their 150 total goals which is 42%. Marchese has added 7 goals in 14 games and if you include him it's up to 47%. What hurts is Clarke and Czinder have both gone into the tank so really they haven't gotten anything tangible from them for a couple months now. They didn't play bad against London but for being a smaller team than Windsor they sure seemed to win more battles. I know Rychel likes having a bigger team but if your team doesn't play big then it really defeats the purpose of having a big team.

I would agree that Windsor should take forwards, with 3 of their 1st 4 picks

as well as a forward from the import draft

Of the 18 picks including the Euro pick,12 should be forwards

You are correct the lack of secondary scoring has hurt this team

Dry spells by Clarke,Czinder,Macqueen, and Johnson have hampered this team

going forward

It appears that maletta is coming around, and thats encouraging

Hopefully Clarke,Johnson,Czinder and Macqueen will bag more goals during the

last quarter of the season,Koko and Rychel cant do it all

I'll have whatever attitude I want, I don't need some jackamo like you complaining about it. Have you even posted anything worth reading yourself? If I want to mock people who ask for something and then are not happy when they get it, that's my business. You're more than welcome to read any of the junior forums i don't post on if you don't like it. It wasn't even directed at you, oh sensitive one. I happen to be amused that people wanted all the veterans traded for younger assets, and now that we've done that they lament the lack of leadership left. I am making a comment on the schizophrenic nature of our fan base, sorry if that chaps your ass.

Of the veterans traded only Kuhnhackl had any real leadership potential. Our OA's were ridiculous this year - MacQueen, Robertson and Cully. Then our 19 yr olds are Posa and Czinder.

You have high level 16 and 17 yr olds trying to figure it all out by themselves. MacQueen, Posa or Czinder really can't call out a Rychel, Vail, Ebert or Koko with any effect and can't really mentor them in how to better prepare for a pro career.

Out best (only?) hope is that when a lot of our 94's come back from their first pro camps they'll come back with some confidence, esperience and leadership qualities.
