"New to the area and making your conclusions based upon hearsay and rumours from a bunch of couch coach fans on a forum where any diluted imbosol can post ? Thinking you may want to take in the rest of the season and form some opinions of your own."
Is that like a deluded imbecile? Or is it an imbesol, only watered down?
I wasn't able to catch the games this weekend and hop on here to see the reaction and we have some new poster "BlackandYellow" bashing everything about the Sting?!? Huh? Whats with the user name if you have so much anger vented up already as someone new to the area?
Anyways, how did the Sting play this weekend? What were the causes of the losses? Windsor and Guelph may technically be "rebuilding teams" but they have also won some tough games against other tough teams. Hell, Guelph has played strong all season long so losing a 3-1 game on the road to a good team isn't the end all be all.
Obviously, it'd be nice to get the two points but no points are a given in this league for any team.

Excuse me the spelling police are on board . Mispelt words do not make this statement anyless true
BTW
Imbosol , imbosol meaning , definition of imbosol , what is imbosol - Another spelling of imbecile.A ## person or a fool.
Some examples : Fred called Bob an imbosol because he believed that John ate a cat.
Easy there ma'am. Spelling is highly overrated. Was just someones knee jerk reaction to you calling someone that particular name and the meaning that comes with it, yet you don't spell it correctly. Laughing at yourself is a healthy response at times.
The most apparent problem causing the Sting to underachieve has been stated over and over again. The unfortunate reality is Sarnia will continue to disapoint unless the coaches buckle down and get serious about their defense. The coaching staff(and even a 3rd party) need to get together with the D and spend significant time going over video after video and spending considerable time on and off the ice teaching the D how players at the OHL level on a "contending team" should actually play. The amount of passes not making it tape to tape and how many times the D blindly toss the puck up the boards or send it to open ice/icing is unacceptable at this point in the season. With Robertson here and Murphy getting his legs back it has improved, but poor defensive play seems to be contagious aswell. A piece of advice often given to aspiring hockey players by guys who have made it is "you have more time than you think" in reference to making a play. This point needs to be pounded into the Sting D because their giveaways are happening because they are not patient enough and panic too much when making a play. Connor Murphy has displayed good patience and composure with the puck, but has baffled me by plays he makes under pressure. When the D are defending against a rush it's often brutal how much ice they give up to the opposition by baking up too far and too quick. Worse waiting to enage them until almost at the top of the cirlcles. You can watch and see next game how they literally just give the space to the opposition and keep backing up. There are multiple times when the D have forced the guy to the outside route and could easily close the gap to make a hit. But they get beat on the outside! Anytime you can force a guy to outside, it should be game over. When you force him to that route, you are in control of how much space you've given him in order for him to take it(rather than him go inside) and should be able to close that space in a heartbeat whether with a hip or just putting you arm/shoulder to the glass simply blocking him off. You can still get dangled yes, but smart D will wait for that moment they put their head down to look at the puck right before trying to go around them(happends often when an outside route is forced) and then Boom...a rare occurance for Sting D.
Power play woes are directly linked to the inability of the D to get the puck up to the forwards to even get close to the offensive zone. This was masked somewhat by Yakupov who usually after a few failed attempts to get him the puck, would eventually just go and do it himself. Now that he's not there to do that, the PP has been just terrible. You can see these players getting fustrated at their teammates when they can't properly get them the puck, and this is bad for team chemistry.
I'm not saying I have the answers to the D's problems, but it has got to be apparent to other fans, this level of play from the D is unacceptable at this point. Going over video is very effective and hours could be spent with those D going over their plays. If the coaching staff has tried this already then what they've been doing and who is doing it is not good enough. There are always unintended giveaways and bad decisions made with the puck, almost inevitable in the game of hockey, but it's the bad plays consitently happening that need to be addressed. Unless the defense buckles down, the Sting cannot count soley on Anderson and Yakupov/forwards to take them deep into the playoffs.

Reason: fixed sentence
Why do so many fans look at the armageddon for a team that is basically playing at 60% potential through 90% of the season. The Sting will make playoffs and if they get that roster pieced back together they will be a force. But writing them off at this point is not so wise when you could be served a large platter of crow in the near future.
If JB has his full team and continued to lose then yes you have some major beef. But with that amount of skill sitting on the side it's hard to give fair judgement on a man or the team until it's a full unit.
Tommys observation mainly had to do with the defence. We do not have any defencemen on the sideline so no more roster pieces to be added back there. And while I agree with Tommy I also think it is a team defence issue. The forwards need to take some responsibility to. I also agree with a earlier post that pointed out we have some forwards at -23. That is unacceptable. Right now the forwards are not clicking and seem to lack chemistry. I am disappointed with us settling for the perimeter game and unwillingness to go to the dirty areas. I dont see it as armageddon but things that need to be addressed if we hope to have any lengthy PO run. With the price paid for this roster anything but a lengthy PO run will be viewed as armageddon around here.

Just an outside observation.
Their big missing pieces are forwards...my problem is with the defence who are coached by a coaching staff that includes Jacques, but I don't blame him outright and by himself.

I was going to mention the significant +/- difference but it's namely Boucher(-24 ) and Yakupov(+21). Boucher's rating does not make him look good defensively at all. I don't notice anything the stands out but is surely getting attention from the coaching staff. I think a lot the forwards problems has to do with confidence collectively, which will improve once they are completely healthy.

Reason: sp?
It's amazing how fast those plus/ minus flip the other way when a roster fills out including forwards. With many Sting games being played from behind it really skews the numbers with missing guys so I wouldn't sweat it. Besides Jaques didn't build that team to play Plymouth hockey in the first place, more light shoot the lights out. Teams like Plymouth who may have to come from behind to beat them in late March all the sudden must adapt a new style and open up if they trail.
these were the lines to start training camp
Boucher-Galy-Yaka
Rensfeld-Carney-Ritchie
alberga -Sara-hottot
Thomas nevins -kuju-latta
on def
Brousard-Charl
basso-luciani
D'angelo-Kuzmky and Murphy to come
IN net Maxwell and Hope
When Galy got hurt every centre moved up one spot and the team won 11 of 15 and then what happen ???( to me the team adds two d and a tougher forward we're better than the team now). The problems started when he traded for Thompson (nothing against him) and moved a veteran D and since then its been all down hill.. Just my thought we should have improved depth on D and not up front. Interesting

They are healthy. Yakupov will likely be back Friday in Ottawa Beaulieu said today so what you see is what you get with the Sting with the exception of Gally who may not return at all(worst case). The injury plague seems to be over with at this point with and the forward and D units are intact.
The biggest problem up front is chemistry which is only understandable with all the bodies that have been in and out of the lineup and new guys being brought in it will take some time for guys to get used to new linemates(who are contineously shuffled) and in some cases a new system. It's very obvious this team needs some time to gel on the ice now that the roster looks like its finally a finished product. Once they find that that chemistry they'll gain confidence and hopefully turn into the offensive juggarnaut we all know this team has the capability to be. I'd be willing to bet in the next few weeks we see this team turn the corner and play like a true contender down the stretch. If not and by the end of Feb they'll still playing inconsistant .500 hockey and getting beat by rebuilding teams then we have big problems.

Good post Simon. It would be great news for the Sting if Gally is back for March 1. My prediction is that this team is really going to hit it's stride soon.
The last couple of games have been frustrating for the team and the fans. I attended the game in Guelph and the Sting carried the vast majority of the play but couldn't seem to finish when they needed to. Guelph had something like 2 shots on net in the second period, and a total of 4 or 5 legit scoring chances the whole game but they converted their chances while the Sting didn't .
This group needs more time to gel with the new additions and there are still some real problems that need to be cleaned up. Guelph scored 2 of it's goals because the Sting forwards weren't picking up the trailers on the back check. The Spooner line was pretty slack on the back check. Was quite disappointed in the play of Thompson as he floated most of the game. He got a ton of ice but didnt really deserve it. If the Sting are to succeed he can't be mailing it in.
Biggest problem I could see on the offence is that most of the forwards aren't willing to stay in the dirty areas. There was way too much shooting from the perimeter. Wouldn't mind seeing Latta play more as he's one kid that does seem to be willing to go to the net even if he's not the most offensive player in the world. The offence also seems to lack cohesion as players seem to be unsure what the other guys are going to do.
Despite some of the problems the Sting are currently wrestling with I think there are no showstoppers and that the team is about to go on the upswing very soon. I'm sure that will bitterly disappoint those that are taking potshots at the coach/GM who would love to see him and the team fail.
What would be acceptable in the next 12 games jwalk in the last 23 games their 8 and 15 just over 33% pretty sad but you think he,s doing a great job and you think they are turning the corner so 8 and 4 or7 and 5 what 6 and 6 ..What do you think their record will be and we'll look back in a month. By the way in those 12 games only 3 teams have more points. I think against this schedule turning the corner means 8 and 4 maybe 7 and 5. Lets just talk facts not who hates who
Agree 100 percent. I wish everyone would stick to the facts and not make emotional reactions to things.
That said, its hard to stick to fact with the following...

You are right, lets stick to the facts, not posts where people are taking shots at a coach.
Yes tiger don't just protect the coach also the players against some pretty harsh words from some of these ______' They also need it
Thats fine, check out the history of my posts, I hate the over the top posts where the sky is falling one day and everything is awesome in another. Ive had to defend countless 15 year old kids on the draft thread from parents who try to tear down kids.
My issue is with have anterior motives who use this online forum to take shots. There has been way to much personal involvement in posts on the Sting board this year, and its kinda sad, because fans don't care about that stuff, they don't want to see a family member us this forum to anonymously attack.
They care about the Sting, and want to talk about the Sting. I hope that moving forward, we can keep the personal drama off of here.
I was at the Sting game last Friday vs Windsor and spoke to one of the Sting, and i wont
say who,but I can say there is a lot of unrest in the sarnia room, and was also told that
all those who were moved are glad they were,Jacques not well liked ar all, plays favorites
and the practices are all the same, not interesting or challenging
I must say I was impressed with this players honesty and pretty direct comments
about the coach, the situation, departed players and current players
The player was actually to talking to the guy I was with mostly I just happened to be
there and we had never met before
Just saying some of what is being posted here, the negative stuff I mean appears to
have some truth
There are negative entities in every dressing room.
Its a matter of how large it is, and how its managed. I have been in a few rooms this year, and there has been only one that I would say was negative to the point that I could tell it was effective things, and that was not in Sarnia.
Obviously you are a die hard sting fan!!! They will go down..Treating players like garbageLike other posts on the site looks good on paper but they are not a team no cemistry at all... Karma is such a sweet thing!!!
Yes there is some unrest in the room , but a four day road swing that is coming up will go a long way in helping this team. I hope this road trip someone will stand up and take on the leadership roll for this team. Then the CHEMISTRY will be back in the dressing room, it is so obvious we need it. We need to start playing for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back now that most of the cancer has been traded away ( Maxwell, Carnival & dad ).
As for jacko not a great fan so far but will wait and see how players and things are handled before making my mind up, it could be jacko or jackass.

Just my outside / inside observation
Totally agree about playing for the name on the front of the sweater instead of the back. Thats easier said than done with the talent on this team. I just hope there is enough puck to go around.
While rumours and speculation indicated that the two you mention were issues in the room I'm not sure are completely accurate or that they were mainly responsible. I'm not a fan of ******** on lads without facts. Because obviously there are still issues as mentioned by the hockeylegend who has nothing to do with the Sting.
Am certainly hoping the long roadie will improve chemistry. It's quite obvious it's lacking on the ice so I can't imagine it being much better in the room. The leadership from Jacko on down to the OA's and vets need to start leading by example and building unity and confidence from within.
Another dud by the Sting tonight. Playing a very good team but not enough sustained pressure on the forecheck outside of a few stretches in the 3rd. Too many shots from the outside with no traffic. Lots of struggles clearing the zone too leading to turnovers and oddman rushes/breakaways (which gave ottawa the first goal). The good news is Yakky looked real good out there and was flying gaining the blue line with ease and making some nice dishes and of course the nice snipe. He and Spooner didn't seem to have much goin on though and were forcing it, can't write them off as linemates after 1 game though.

This is what I came on to post. Sarnia needs to drive the net as you aren't going to beat many OHL goalies from 40 feet on the outside. Take it to the net and make it difficult on the opposition to defend you.
