I'd do it in the off season.

Nope. Not helping Edmonton become a better team.

Don't want Schneider going anywhere in the West and certainly not in the division.

And just no generally.

Do not want to face Schneider 6 times a year. PRV does not do us any good this or next season. I doubt he makes Vancouver's top 9 next season. PRV's value is all time low and Oils should just hang on to him.

These teams are bad trading partners not only 'cause they are in the division but Vancouver is in 'win now' mode and Edmonton is anything but. I can't see anything on the Oilers roster that would even remotely interest Vancouver that isn't already not going to be traded (RNH, Hall, Eberle). Maybe Hemsky or Smyth? Doubtful.

Good trade. Not sure what to make of it. I think I'd do it.

Smyth would be a good fit in Vancouver for a deep playoff run. I don't know for what and it would probably never happen as other teams would/could offer more

I don't doubt Schneider is an upgrade over Dubnyk, but just like in the Bernier thread it is tough to tell just how much when most of the argument is based off numbers rather than looking at the team Schneider has in front of him vs what Dubnyk has. Again, the example I'll use is Brian Elliot. The Sens couldn't get him out of town fast enough. Put him on a better defensive team coached by a system specialist like Hitchkock and you've got lights out numbers and the guy earns a contract extension.

Paajarvi has played poorly and has zero confidence right now, but all the tools are there as well as work ethic. Altering his game a bit and putting on some muscle in the off-season should hopefully see him grow into the player we hope for.

All in all, probably fair value on paper but not interested from the Oil perspective. Josh Harding could be had for free in UFA.

A little early in his career to come to that conclusion.

good trade value wise... I'd do it, except for the fact that there's no way I'd make a trade (unless it's a laughably great deal) that sends Schneider to Edmonton.

We know how good Schneider is and how much better he can develop to... there's no way I'd deal him to a division rival. I'd hesitate to deal him anywhere in the West.

now if you're sending Hall or RNH for Schneider, I'd probably be convinced of moving him there

Switch Teubert for Dubnyk and I would do it in the off season.

Vancouver doesn't do it. Schneider could fetch that something that would have more of an immediate impact then MPS.

Mason Raymond put up some really solid offensive numbers for Vancouver last season and MPS would be lucky to hit those kind of totals in the next few years (or maybe ever). He's a bit better defensively and larger but its not a significant enough upgrade for them to get rid of one of their best trading chips.

Oilers also need to hold onto their younger players and develop them, hes having a sophmore slump and has low value right now.

Really? MPS sucks no thanks, we could get something that could actually help us instead of a player who wouldn't even make our team and a dime a dozen backup.

Canucks say no, MPS can barely crack EDM lineup, he would be so far down the depth chart in VAN

You are right, its better to accept a weaker offer for Schneider, as long as its outside of the division.

isnt Dubnyk pretty good, and so we'd end up with the same problem of a good young goalie stuck behind long-term Lu?

Not that isn't a good return, I'm just not sold on MPS. Also, I don't want to face Schneider 6 times a season.

In spurts Dubnyk can be good, he can also be completely awful.

Schneider is much more consistent.

Just like how Hodgson "sucked" last year or the year before that? You'd think we, as Canuck fans, would've learned from experiences such as the Sedins, Kesler, and now Hodgson that it isn't fair to rule out any prospect at the age of 20 years old...
