I hope EJ continues to be the one to initiate contact in board battles. You can tell how freakishly strong he is when he does, but sometimes he prefers to poke with his stick.

I think he did a very good job along the boards against the Kings.

Stupid decision.

He deserves to be the #1 guy right now but he shouldn't be playing back to back games.

He had a good game against them in our 4-2 win back on New Year's Eve.

I'm okay with him getting the nod here, but just hope we're not tiring him out.

He's only played 19 games this season. He'll have a whole week off after Tuesday's game against the Wild.

Avalanche need 33 points in 33 games to get 97 points...

17-16 gets us in (so does 15-15-3, etc.).

We have 14 games against "titan" teams (e.g. teams high in the standings or classically have done bad against). And I bet we walk away going 5-9 with those.

Meaning we'll have to go 12-7 against the **** teams which the Avalanche haven't faired well with.

The pace in the west for 8th is currently 90 points. But with five teams fighting for one spot, I think we have to assume one of them having a strong finish so I suspect it will take 92-93 points to get it.

Still looking at our schedule there's 14-15 tough games ahead of us.

No issue with Jiggy getting he nod today. It's a short week with the All Star break.

That's how Sacco handles goalies. Eventually Varlamov gets the chance and if he plays well, he'll get a bunch of starts in a row.

Personally I'd prefer a more balanced schedule for them, but it's not a huge problem for me.

Varlamov should have been given today's start, but since Giguere didn't see a ton of shots against the Kings, the Avs don't have to travel between the back-to-back, and J.S.'s history with the Ducks, I understand Sacco's decision.

I have a choice to make...

A) Do my reporting for work now so I can watch the game while posting on HF and not have to do my reporting tomorrow morning.

B) Do my reporting during the game, meaning I don't have to do it tomorrow morning but I won't be able to post on HF during the game.

C) Don't do my reporting, don't post on HF during the game, and have a lovely, quiet evening with the fiancee.

--

Yeah... off to do my metrics now.
