Ruutu to Boston

Bruins swap Caron & a draft pick to Carolina for free agent to be Tuomo Ruutu. Ruutu takes Benoit Pouliot's place on the third line and B's add another physical player to embrace the hate of the league.

Seriously though, would love to see Tuomo Ruutu in black and gold. Hoping that Chiarelli takes a run at him!!

I'd also like Ruutu on the Bruins, but would rather go for a top 4 d-man like Gleason over a forward.

Agreed. If we want depth, I'd prefer a dmen, but I wouldn't dismiss this idea right away. He'd be a good fit. Chia said he's looking for players on the wing and on defense.

Ruutu is going to Nashville! He wants to play on a line with tootoo, haha

Then Poile is going to look into signing cheechoo as well to complete the third line haha

I don't get this, unless it's about trains. And still I don't get it.

Ruutu, tootoo, cheechoo on a line together, imagine the poor announcer when that line is on the ice, hahaha

Do not want to derail the thread, and didn't want to start a new one, but how would canes feel about something around Ruutu for MacArthur.

Probably not that interested. MacArthur's a decent player but I think Canes are just looking for picks, prospects and young rfas at this point.

Goon? That's not Ruutu at all. He's a semi-skilled agitator and wicked hitter who plays with an edge. Not a goon though.

Translation: Once he becomes a Bruin, he'll be considered a dirty goon who's the scourge of the league.

How about a package for Ruutu and Gleason? What would Carolina want? Caron and Kampfer could easily be traded, along with a few draft picks I'm sure. You could look into some of our higher tier prospects too, like Spooner or Knight.

They're both UFAs, though.

I'd love for us to make a package deal maybe around Caron/Hamill, Kampfer and a pick for Ruutu and Gleason.

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Ruutu-Kelly-Peverley
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
Pouliot

Chara-Boychuk
Siedenberg-Gleason
Ference-McQuiad
Corvo

Thomas
Rask

Looks good to me for another run at the cup.

I could see the Canucks needing someone with his grit. Could give up Rome and Lampierre and have a scoring gritty blue collar lunch pain work ethic.

That's fair enough. Really what the Canes want is young NHL ready players or draft picks.

Caron, Hamill, and Kampfer have all played for us this year. Caron looks to have regressed a little from last year. He was stellar last year, but there wasn't any room for him. Hamill has finally stepped up, works hard every shift, and is quickly becoming a fan favorite. Kampfer was a regular last year, but seems to have regressed a bit this year. A large part of the regression with Caron and Kampfer has been being the 13th and 7th defensemen respectively. They practice with the Bruins all week and play with the Providence Bruins Friday-Sat-Sund. The travel and lack of consistent play time makes them look a little out of place.

I am fairly confident from watching them to say they all will be in the NHL in some fashion.
I would be hesitant to give up all three for pending UFA's, but we do need more depth.

How are Rutuu and Gleason doing this year?

Ruutu is finding ways to score in front of the net and brings a good physical presence. Gleason, despite being a scapegoat early, is one of the few plus players on an awful defensive team. He also will probably get around his career high in points.
