Don’t be surprised if Carter — ballyhooed as the long-awaited No. 1 center just six months ago — is sent packing to one of the many clubs in the NHL who are looking for a top-six forward.
Carter and Nash have never shown signs of enhancing each other’s games, and although Carter has said all the right things about wanting to make it work in Columbus, his body language on the ice has been something different.
Also included in the article is the news that Scott Howson will likely remain as the GM going into next season, and Steve Mason will most likely be moved.
Would anyone be opposed if Carter was on JT's wing? The only things I don't like are the contract and his off ice attitude
Isn't Carter locked in a contract through 2021 or something with a no-trade clause? Isn't he also due about $6M-$7M through 2017? Isn't he being a disgruntled pain in the ass with CBJ? Doesn't he have a knack for having recurring lower-body injuries? Isn't he out for possibly weeks right now with a separated shoulder?
Days before Carter was dealt,Botta wrote that the isles would be leery of Carter's 11 yr extension and that Carter could be 'pouty'.
Snow won't bring in an immature Carter. There are too many youngsters in the Isles lockerroom.Maybe if there were more veteran leaders, guys who could keep Carter from pouting.Or a stronger headcoach. Can you see a coach like Torts putting up with a pouting Carter?
I think People forget how awsome Peca was......I Hate Tucker
Man he would be perfect right now. He was awesome for us, and than Tucker came in with a hit that ruined Peca's career. That hit would be a big time suspension these days.
No thanks, the guy seems like a locker room cancer. If there was one player on the Blue Jackets I want its Nash or Tyutin.
Nash, Tyutin fit our team needs and would be ideal pick-ups. Even Umberger would be a nice addition at a reasonable cost.
Carter no for many reasons, most of which have nothing to do with skating, shooting, scoring.
I have said it before and I will say it again, Jeff Carter is a cancer to any team he goes to, his talent is undeniable when he wants to play but his lack of effort, heart and a piss poor attitude would not be good for the Isles.
Did I mention he takes more shots and misses the net badly more then any hockey player I have EVER seen. He is a black hole when the puck goes near him...
From the Columbus team I think that the Isles would be best served targeting Vermette or Prospal and as soon as possible. They have a long hard uphill battle if they are to make the playoffs and that means someone that isnt Tavares needs to generate some offense. i think both Vermette or Prospal could do that and quickly. I would guess the cost for either would be low or at least reasonable.
This post may upset some folk here, so I apologize in advance if I do.
Philly made no bones about stating Carter had a "partying" problem after they unloaded him on the Blue Jackets. To me that translates into a "substance abuse" problem. NHL players - pro athletes in general - are no strangers to the party scene and you know more than a few have alcohol, coke, and or other issues. If that really is his issue, then we don't want him. If it *might* be his problem, then we don't want him. Not with the young guys on this club and the emerging leader in Tavares. Throwing a veteran influence with a significant issue into the locker room... no way.

this is how i feel as well. Carter is extremely skilled and if he gave 100% every night and was a good leader he would be considered a top 10 center in the league.
Carter is a Center not a Winger....why would we want to mess with the working Chemistry of Moulson, JT, and Okposo?
If anything Carter would be or 2nd line center with size we are missing....but that long contract and the price and all the injuries..... we should pass....
I do like Carter...but worried about his health... and the price to get him.....

I will not be at all surprised if Columbus blows the whole thing up by trading Carter and Nash. However, I don't think either will come here. Nash certainly won't waive his NTC to come to the Island. As for Carter, I don't want him because he seems like one who might disrupt this team's chemistry.
If Martinek hadn't gotten injured [again], I would have gladly taken him back.... not that I have any say.

Well, you're idea of partying and mine differ vastly. When I say "party", I mean there will be Pizza, cake, and of course, Coke, but more generically, soda.

The only team I can see being interested in Carter is Winnipeg. Everyone else is pretty much set with their centers and I can't see Columbus trading him within the division so that leaves out Nashville and Chicago.

If he was our captain now and was born ten years later we would be in good shape....Tavares actually reminds me of Peca personality wise
