Gaustad to NYR

Take a draft pick, maybe a prospect. Think Gaustad fits real well on the Rangers. This is completely unfounded just brainstorming over beers

Do the Rangers need a center?

He'd be a good depth piece for a Cup run and wouldn't cost a ton. I think the Rangers could use another highly skilled forward and a puck-mover for depth on the back-end.

I would like Gaustad on the Rangers. Everyone is focusing on a top 6 winger which yes is still the number 1 target but I think they get depth C as well

besides Gaustad I think Moore and Pahlsson are options

3rd at the most hoping for less

Johnny Malkin Mitchell kinds scares me in the playoffs

Yup, we really need a faceoff man, too.

3rd, or 4th+ B level prospect.

In an ideal world, we could get another shooter on LW, somebody like Prospal for our third line and as you said, a puck mover for depth.

Rangers could definitely use his help on face-offs. I can think of several games where they've given up goals coming straight off the draw. 3rd and a minor league I think is probably fair.

Rangers top six barring Torts adjustments is pretty set at this point but Gaustad is an upgrade over Mitchell and would really improve the bottom 6

I'd say 3rd + Prospect.

Yep, this is what the Sabres should want for him, or simply a 2nd.

As some as said, 3rd and center prospect or a 2nd and a later round pick.

A 3rd would do. This would be one of the plethora of draft picks Niles Crane should get, hopefully it will be a different GM by draft time.

are the Sabres in sell mode?

I would take Gaustad on the Rangers for a 3rd. He would be a good 3rd line fit with Boyle and Prust.

Is he good at faceoffs? playing more C or LW?

He plays more center then LW. He is great on the draw, big size, but won't give much offense. You could probably get him for a 3rd plus a prospect, or a straight up second.

I would be way okay with Gaustad for a 3rd. Good for ~25 points in a bottom six role, gritty and not afraid to block shots, & American to boot. Fits like a glove on the Rangers.

Rangers may go for that although Lindberg has a chance at earning a 4th line C spot with the Rangers next yr.

he plays with the big boys in the Swedish elite league now

As a fan of the sabres, I would ask for a second as opposed to a 3rd+ medium prospect.

We've got a bunch of "medium prospects" as it is. Try for the higher pick and no prospect. Three picks in the second round would be nice.

Goose for Wolski. IMO Wolski has been banged up and needs a change or scenery. Goose is walking as a UFA and Buffalo can give Wolski a test drive as they make changes coming into the deadline. If they like him, they can resign him to an extension. If they don't, they can still ship him out for a pick equal to Goose.

Goose fits in nicely on the 4th line for the Rangers in a role similar to what MacT played in 94.

A second option would be Sammy Pahlsson in Columbus.

NO WAY I do that! Lindberg, will be looking to make this squad with his cousin next year. He'll be our 4th line pivot.

Goose for Wolski is terrible for the Sabres, we have no need for him (or any wingers for that matter) and his cap hit probably pushes us over the cap. If we're trading Goose it's directly for futures. You also won't need a fourth line pivot if you get and resign Gaustad. 3rd and Lindberg makes sense or just a second.
